Just to keep you guys informed, I'm real happy with my Nexus, here's a few reports/pics from the past couple of weekend rides!
28 July 2007Brilliant sunny weather now here in Sydney, still cool in the mountains though.
I checked the oil and tyres this morning and set off, all rugged up, for a little ride in the countryside....

341 kms (211 mile) all together, little wonder I feel rather old tonight
Brilliant ride, took in some of the fastest bends beside some of the best views of the Blue Mountains.
Got a bit cool up there with the clouds rolling in, only 2 weeks ago there was almost 2 foot of snow in Oberon, felt just as cold there today too.
Didn't reach any mega speeds, tops was 141 (87mph), but despite some of the roads being quite rough, the Nexus handled brilliantly, cruising at around 120kmh (75mph).
Little traffic here on Saturdays (in the country), the best time for a ride.
Arriving home the gauge showed 90km (55mi) left in the tank, that would give me a range of only 331kms (266 mile).
Here's 3 nice piccies from the day...
and some trivial data: temps were around 6.5c when I crossed the mountains and the winds were gusting up to 65kmh!!!! no wonder I was a bit chilly
;D ;D
and this one last weekend, the weather's getting warmer here now....
just cant stop havin a good time!
the route:
maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=EN&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=105324848358225546742.000436f0a8a9745a38af2&ll=-34.311681,150.787354&spn=1.093471,1.955566&z=9&om=1
255kms (157mile) to the end, got a bit cool (10c), got a bit windy (42kmh) but the Nexus only got a bit sideways when I was on some freeway sections down south, I was in a group of about 80-100 Ducati bikes all going up the same route....
Perfect weather (17c on the coast), and not too much traffic as I meandered down the coast road with other bikes, ending up in Albion Park and headed up the winding Macquarie Pass (an uphill route with hundreds of hairpins and fast bends), brilliant road in a brilliant setting, love the rain-forest-like canopy - got a bit sideways around one hairpin, entering it a bit too fast, but after a little Embarassed tight-sphincter moment I continued having such a ball!!
Still getting used to the auto, I just keep the throttle on and hope the bend doesn't tighten up too much ;D
But, I hopped onto a side road just before Robertson which took me through some divine countryside, not a soul in sight for miles, no cars... ending up somewhere near Mittagong I continued up the Old South Road through some of the towns we passed years ago when it was the main highway...
From Picton I took another back-road toward Thirlmere then Oakdale and back via Camden and Bringelly... Most of the roads travelled were 80-100 limited with little or no traffic, average speed was 74kmh , with average fuel 27km/L (76mpg/UK) and highest number noted was 154 (95mi), must've been the wind
I saw no scooters all the way until I was a block from home, two lovely scoots rode past as I waited at lights.
Such a great time it was!!! not many pics, I only stopped 3 times ,old bladder!!
Hope you guys like my reports!! ;D ;D
