Hi All, Website looks informative and fun, this my first post after joining last night, sorry it took so long I'm and old scoot rider...(thats old, and ridden scoots...) I took a Nexus 500 out yesterday and found it heaps of fun and more than enough power for what I want (occasional city commute, most likely short hall country rides with the odd 2000Mile interstate run to see the folks) I cant find anything on this site, yet, on these. Anyone own one, had one, like them, hate them... I would like to know more.... I think the current style is sexy, fast, it's big, but looks/feels smaller than other maxi's... in love with the red one! Appreciate your input ;D
Haha thanks! Some of uf here may be able to afford it but ME....shoot....I can only dream. May I ask how much that silver one is???
Here is Oz it's ($AUD10,500.oo) ride away ($USD8744.oo), it's 'up there with the bikes, but for example, the Honda Silverwing here is going at around ($AUD14,000.oo) ($USD11,700.oo) so this one isnt too badly priced.... (Nexus, being a '500cc' is the same price here as the Honda Forza/250, so I think it's better value, and nicer being Italian... Just look at it go.... I'm getting a red one, it's faster and I can always imagine that long legged thing is sitting on the back ;D

Congrats opascoot, awesome scoot.
Looking at the pic of the silver one you posted I wonder what make engine it is. Looks like the same CVT cover as the Yamaha Majesty 250cc, don't think Yamaha makes a 500cc though just a 400cc.
The Piaggio X9 used a Honda Helix 250cc engine, some years back at least.
Interesting rear suspension, no spring?
Looking forward to your review and some pics.
Always thought it be nice to take a few days and ride through Australia on a bike, see the sights ..... just kidding of course, that would take more like a week or so ;D.
Good luck with your new ride.

Oh yeah !! That red dress makes all the difference don't it!! Andy, I dunno who's engine it is, but it's called the "Piaggio Master" engine, 460cc water cooled single. i'ts also used in other Piaggio models apparently... I'll certainly be letting you guys know how it rides, from what I've read so far I think I'll have a real good time out there!! ;D ;D

Well, sorry I haven't been back.... it's been raining so much lately I've got the time to report back on my NEW RIDE ;D ;D The scoot had to be shipped up from Melbourne for me, it arrived after lunch on the Friday, the nice dealer kept me in touch with regular sms messages every few hours, I think he knew I was getting excited We had a big storm brewing off the coast, which had category-2 hurricane winds hitting through the night!!!! I took off in what i though was the eye of the storm to pick it up, managed to get it home with little wind or rain!!!! Big smile beaming out of my helmet!!!! bugger the rain... actually didn't really get wet till I got the red lights at the end... Since then, I've only had 3 days of sun/dry in between some serious rain!!! (we've had 5 years no rain, and our dams which were almost empty are now approaching FULL in just 3 weeks!! , not good for riding though ) Well, the Nexus is a real hottie, looks so sexy, rides nice, handles straight and responds better than I thought it would... Now I need to get used to it all and keep on scootin I've done about 400kms so far, and it looks like clear/sunny conditions coming up in the next week... It's returning (converted) 85mpg, has no problems overtaking up to 90mph ( i did that once without realising ), I've been told it will easily run out to about 110mph! Cornering is very pleasing, only that I need to get used to the throttle response and the brakes are linked, so I was a bit paranoid with the front brake coming on if I were to tap the 'rear' into a corner if I was starting to lean.... all in good time... But... it's heaven!!! smooth and comfy cruising, a bit lumpy at idle, but it is a single cylinder.... quality is good, most panels are well fitted and paint is clean, lovely red!!! Here's a little slideshow for yous ;D s64.photobucket.com/albums/h193/r1150gfun/?action=view¤t=1181998576.pbw

Opascoot; You are one lucky "DAWG"! Did the "Accessory" pictured in the first pic come with it? (LOL) Glad you came back to us to let us know how things went. Keep us informed. We probably can't be much help with Gilera specific problems but, you probably won't have any!

Opascoot and Fellow Dawgs: Opascoot, that is a knockout of a scoot. I would've commented earlier, but I JUST finished wiping the drool off the computer and the surrounding countryside. Then I actually looked at the scoot... ;D Seriously, they should bring that machine here. It is very angular and purposeful; its shape leaves no doubts that it's a high speed canyon carver...I notice that the bottom of the scoot seems high off the ground...good cornering clearance! 85mpg and 90+mph? ?? I feel cheated...74mpg and 80mph... Opascoot, let me shake your hand and congratulate you on one heck of a buy! Enjoy it, and be sure to let us know when the Gilera manages to catch you one of those Italian lovelies! John

opascoot,
Ditto on what everyone has said! That is one awesome scoot. I have been wondering what was out there that was over the "run of the mill" 250s other than than the big three. You seem to have the "pick of the litter"! Congratulations and good scootering. Keep us up on your adventures.

Well... end of the fiscal year and I was at work till 9PM last night and till about 2PM today counting beans.... (well.... car parts really) BUT... good thing about today was that I rode the Nexus in this morning despite the 5degreesC, great sunny morning!!! (only 16km)... and after we finished having a light club sandwich in our brasserie I took off on a nice little ride.... Here is my darling parked next to the other toys at work.... then I took off 'around the block' for 135km (83mile) in Divine sunshine, but a bit windy... Here I'm stopped at a lovely town, Mt Hunter, near Camden where I zipped up my vents and put some more warm gear on... and The winds were gusting around 40kmh (25mph) and I was surprised how good the Nexus handled it, and even better, when I got the tail wind (down a huge hill and onto some fast plains) it was fabulous ;D ;D Overall, I'm getting happier with each ride, but it's hard (sort of) to keep the speed down when I throttle off, it just loves to get moving and I'm often over 100kmh before I notice!!! A lovely ride to end a most unexciting stocktake...

Hi Guys!! Thought I'd pop in and say G'day and let you's know how the Nexus is going... well... I'm past the 1000km mark (600mile) and going to get it's 1st service tomorrow. Of course it's raining again Meanwhile... I've very happy with my Gilera! Adjustable rear shock and ride-height make for great handling differences when you want them! Yesterday I did some country miles and it rained and I ended up having a ball, finding the limits on the tyres until I got back to the oily city streets... Average 28km/litre (78mpg) with the occasional blast of speed up around 90mph (overtaking ) But... the main gripe I have is the damn hard to get at tyre-valves I am one to check pressure before a run... damn near let the front tyre near flat trying to get a reading yesterday ... ended up with around 10psi up tot he servo, of course by then it was hot with different readings.... But... I might get some angled valve stems... otherwise the scoot is fun, goes hard, handles like a dream, sits nice and has good wind resistance despite the short screen!! Well... I'll come back soon and say Hi again!! Happy Scootin!!
