Why is the rear brake a foot pedal instead of hand lever?
I was looking into getting one for my wife due to its short height for the rider (5'1") but noticed that the rear brake is activated by a right foot pedal...
It seems kind of odd that they decided to do this and it seems it would be difficult to get used to....
Do any of you ave experience with this foot brake?
Are there other Chinese clones of scooters that are short in height (other than the Yamaha Morphuos which I really like but is also very expensive!) which does not have this odd form of rear braking?
Thanks!

I have an 87 Honda Elite 250 with a rear brake pedal and find it no trouble at all to use. I do not see why it would be hard for anyone to get used to.

Rear pedal was the original way scoots did it... my Vespa is a rear foot brake. Realy it's not a big problem. Just like any new machine it just takes practice in a safe environment until you get your confidence. Don't let that be the reason not to get a particular bike.

>> It seems kind of odd that they decided to do this << First time I road one of the CVT scoots I was looking all over for the rear brake... while firmly holding the clutch in .... now where the heck did they hide the rear brake.
Really it is no worse than switching between a manual and automatic car.

It stems from the fact that the helix was built before NTSD had definitions of motorcycles and scooters, automatics and manual clutches. The original regs required that the rear brake be operated by a foot pedal on the right side. Prior to the regs, brake pedals were on the left, right, rear etc. The new regs now define the two wheel vehicles better. A MC still requires a right foot operated brake. The automatic scooters can use a left hand brake. The shift scooters will still tend to provide a right foot pedal. The Helix was originally discontinued last year or the year before I think, but was brought back due to popular demand.
