Well, I have it narrowed to 4....
Kymco Xciting 500, Suzuki Burgman 400, Yamaha Majesty 400, maybe a Honda SilverWing.
So many pros and cons to each, and I would love to hear from owners of each....
Kymco 500...you get the extra power, less miles per gallon, option for an orange color, seat a little higher, pretty good value for a 500, and a solid 2 yr warranty (do you ever use the warranty?)
Suzuki and the Yamaha...very similiar in price, style, power, color...seems as though the Burgman is more popular...has the brand name on both
Honda...a little pricy...too much motor? Less miles per gallon, but definitely would pack the most punch if down the road 400cc was not satisfying...probably my least favorite choice
Thoughts? I am sure many have wrestled with this...
Thanks EricE

Eric, Just my opinion but Honda Silverwing has a good reputation for fit and finish and overall quality. Honda service is all around as well. If it was me try the Silverwing see if you can buy a good used one they are not hard to find. As for the size believe me you will grow into it and not be in the situation to be looking for a bigger scoot down the road. . Again my opinion!! Although if you want to start with brand new I've haven't heard anything bad about the Kymco 500. I like the Orange/Silver one!The price looks good too compared with a new Silverwing. About 2 grand difference. Both me and my wife ride Silverwings. They are a blast. Good luck with your quest! Ronster Shiftless Rider

That is a tough choice, I like them all. The Kymco has the biggest engine/price advantage but if you can afford the Silverwing go that route. I used to prefer the Majesty over the Burgman in the 400 class Maxi-scoot but the improvements to the 07 Burgman negate any advantage. It really boils down to whichever scoot appeals to you the most. You gotta admit the Kymco is Sexy...LOL

>> You gotta admit the Kymco is Sexy<< My lawyer said to admit nothing! He also said to keep my mouth shut ... that ain't happened yet either. By silverwing you folks me that 600cc beast at $8000 ?? It has a better HP/Weight than a Harley 883 (costs more as well). Lord knows that at that price it should scream quality. I saw the Honda and Susuki sitting next to each other yesterday at the dealer in West Palm Beach. Now ... I ain't admitting nothing, but I prefered the appearance of the Honda ( keep in mind I have lousy artistic taste ... I think someone should have put Picaso out of his misery). Thus if it were my choice it would come down to the Kymco or the Honda. To be honest I can not see that either one has clear advantage over the other. I want Kymco People 300.

Got to though my two cents worth in. I have fond affection for anything Yamaha. I have had two Yamaha four wheeler that I bought new in the late '80s. I have ridden them hard, my kids have ridden them, my son-in-laws have ridden them hard and now my grandkids are ridding them and other than oil changes, spark plugs, one set of breaks and set of blower bearings (yes the Yamaha Terra Pro has a blower and also has a rear-mount finish mower that driven from the engine by a PTO). I used the Terra Pro to cut 5 acres a week since it was purchased and finally replaced with a ZTR two year ago. I have owned several Yamaha motorcycles and one jet ski. NO PROBLEMS WITH ANY OF THEM. And someday when I can convince my wife getting into scooters is not getting back into motorcycles will sell both of my Chinese scoots and by a Majesty!
OK, I'll put my soap box away now.
