Hello all -
I have a tat tat sound from front end that I can hear when not excellerating. It goes tat tat tat etc to the wheel speed and slows when I slow down and gets faster when I speed up.
The sound is similiar to the sound of a bicycle with cards attatched to the spoke, years ago kids would attache playing cards to the spoke to get a tat tat tat sound.
Any way I just developed this sound and I looked over the front wheel, but I don't see anything dangling on the tire, has anyone had that sound coming fron the front end, Do you know what it may be or what I may look for.
Thanks - PS - I have abs on front end hydrolic brakes , 13 inche tire.
thanks again -

Yes - we do have the same JMStar - is your's a 150 or 250cc? That is a good idea - will check the speedo.
One mre question airnerd - Do you have any issues with having to jump your battery often or not being able to start your bike in the morning or when you have taken it out for a long ride? Thanks - Will let you know if I find something on the speedo etc.

Mine is the 150.
Yes it seems to have a starting issue. but even after i thought i ran the batt dead, i rode it for two days and alls well as the chargeing sytem did its thing.
I have had some issues with starting in the morning (or when cold) but never really after ive been riding.

Prop the scoot up to get the wheel off the ground and spin it by hand. It may be a wheelbearing, or the speedometer gear, or the speedometer cable.

Also check for a thumb tack or nail in the tire.

Also, make sure the tire valve in still in good shape. If the rubber starts to rot, the valve might be getting loose and making noise with the high wheel speed. Probably a long shot but definitely possible...

I have a similar sound on my 50cc and I track it down to a stop that holds the caliper assembly in place. It made the sound when I decelerated and put on the front brake. As the disk is a little warped the sound gets much worse when I apply the brakes.
There is square pin that fits into a slot that is formed by two other square pins. On this scoot how tight they fit was dependent on axles tightness. I had to make a spacer to fit on the opposite side of the front wheel to properly space the assembly. I assume there was one from the factory but I did not put this scoot together and when I got it (in a trade) the first thing I noticed was the front wheel had been put on backwards. Not and easy thing to do but somebody managed it.
Anyway, the main thing I am saying here is make sure your axle nut is not coming loose and allowing play in this assembly. Could lead to a dangerous situation.

monty57 -
What you have explained sound similiar. I have checked the tires too as suggested from you all, visually inspected, can find nothing. When I spin the wheel it does not turn freely, it gives more resistance than before. When I put the bakes on and then slow, relese the brakes I hear it click click click or tat tat plan an clear, then it went away, then I put the brakes on, let go and it is there, it stays now. I did not take it apart yet, but will on Wednesday, I am not going to ride it. It may be what you have explained. Thanks

Ok Sound has stopped after I took the front wheel off, cleaned the old grease out of the ends and put new grease in, then smothed out the disk with emory cloth, put the spacers back in and but it back together.
Thanks all --
