Hi I've got about 120 Km on my Tank 250 DE..I noticed to day at low speeds..about 20 mph there is an odd hesitation in the scooter. It idles great and at 40 mph or so i don't notice the hesitation. It might just be masked by the speed. I have not changed the fuel or vacuum line yet but the hesitation keeps me from any distance at this point....Any suggestions of what to look for..or at?? Thx

Possibly something in the fuel or a fouled spark plug. Also could be improper float level in the carb, but that should have shown up immediately.
Might add some carb cleaner to fuel and run it to see if it clears up. I would also clean and re-gap the spark plug.

Thx..i also read im a repair manual that a weak battery can cause low speed roughness....ever hear of that? Oh..btw i use 87 octane gas..any possibility that may be the cause?? i do hear it pinging a little

Thx..i also read im a repair manual that a weak battery can cause low speed roughness....ever hear of that? Oh..btw i use 87 octane gas..any possibility that may be the cause?? i do hear it pinging a little I would most definitely use 91 octane. Pinging is very bad for the engine, especially when it's a scooter engine that is working hard. It could make sense as pinging is more common when there's a heavy load on the engine, meaning you use a lot of torque. That would exactly be at low speeds. Once in high revs, hp comes into play and not so much torque. This is just what I know from experience with forced induction cars.

If you engine compression is 10:1 or higher you should use 91. Chances of pre-ignition is high when the compression is desgined for high octane.

You have to replace all the fuel and vacuum lines with heavier lines (from an auto parts store). The thin material on the stock lines gets sucked flat and you get fuel starvation. Major pain in the butt, but no problems afterward.

I agree with everyone here about using Premium fuel. It could be the cause of your issue and besides every manual I have read for the CF Moto 250 recommends Premium. I may even help some of the the people with overheating issues. Contrary to what many folks think Premium fuel burns cooler and is harder to ignite thus no pre-ignition.
Gee and thought I would never use the information I learned working in a gas station when I was kid. Yeah Yeah slightly after the horse and buggy but I remember $.12/gallon gas. Yes kiddies that's 12 cents a gallon! Some things where very good about the "good old day".

Well i've run the scoot with premium over the weekend and even threw in some carb cleaner...seems better but not perfect. I know this sounds weird but i haven't figured out whether i'm feeling a slight hesitation at low speed..or a slight surging...LOL anyway it idles great..nice power on acceleration and hills..i'll run it a bit longer and see how it goes. thanks for all the good ideas and suggestions.

Are you sure its the motor and not the brakes dragging?

Never sure Gary but i believe it's the motor, it's not a violent action..very subtle...It was suggested i change out all the fuel and vacuum line , so i'll do that this weekend i hope.

I replaced all the fuel and vacuum lines.....still got the hestitation. I noticed it's only after the engine warms up....is it a possible fule/air mixture thing?? Oh! also i noticed one line that looks like it pops out of the carb..makes a u-turn and goes back in another port..is this a vacuum line too?
