Greetings, I just bought a Race 250 and would like to replace the back shocks with Lighter duty adjustable ones. This scooter is a real gut shaker. It's so bad that I have it up for sale and I have only had it for a week and a half. I have been trying to find some shocks that will fit but so far no luck. If I can find some before I find a buyer I will keep it because it's really not a bad scooter. I was told buy someone on another forum that the shocks from a tank touring 250 might fit but it's hard to spend a $100 and not now for sure if they will fit. If any one knows were I might find some please let me know because I would really like to keep it.

I would give Stan at Oregon Vintage a try, check out the "MRP/OKO ADJUSTABLE SHOCKS" almost at the bottom of the page (first item under "Accessory & Miscellaneous Parts"). Not the cheapest choice but would seem the best choice considering your dilema, best of all Stan has the same Race 250 (colour and all), he would be able to tell you if they fit and I'm sure might have another suggestion otherwise. here is a link to the parts page: www.oregonvintage.com/Scootparts.htmlOrder page link: www.oregonvintage.com/Sorder.htmlDawgs review of the shocks on a very similar styled scoot (but the 150 engine): www.scootdawg.com/page38.htmlClose up pic: www.scootdawg.com/image/DSCN2207.jpgHow about a bit of a review of your experience with the scoot so far? Should you decide to keep it and get new shocks please let us know. I may end up having to do the same, we have some pretty rough roads down here and I'm getting the same scoot as well. All the best and good luck, keep us posted. Andi

I had to find some softer shocks because of a bad back, but I couldn't see spending over $200 for them. I did a bunch of cross reference from manufactures of the shocks offered at J.C. Whitney. Found that as long as your shock is close to these dimensions they should fit no matter what you have, (they are actually for 80-83 honda cb) order #ZX010314 They're $80.00 with free shipping, plus they have a no questions asked return policy.
These fit mine perfect, are 4 way adjustable, and are at least 50% more comfortable, feels like a different scooter. Measure your shock across from the center of each mounting hole, if it's about 13.25in. or approx. 336mm with round eye mount at top and the forked (clevis) at the bottom. these should fit. They come with an assortment of rubber bushings for the top mount, I just had to put 1inch longer bolts in the bottom.
