Most of the stuff on these China-scoots is pretty easy to maintain. But I can't figure out why in the heck the gear oil drain bolt is under the CVT cover. Makes changing the gear oil a real pain in the ass. On my 150, the drain and fill bolts are both exposed, so changing the fluid is a snap. The 250's cover only has two bolts, but there is the rubber gasket that falls part way off when trying to reinstall the cover. Also, the air connection is tough to get back mated up. The connection has a little clamp on it, but the only way to really tighten the clamp is to take off one of the body panels. Forget that.
Am I the only one who finds this annoying?

Well, it is a pain to have to remove the CVT cover but it does give you a chance to inspect the belt and blow out any rubber dust that could cause troubles with the clutch. So it gives you the opportunity to apply preventative maintenance instead of emergency repair. On my scoot the clamp for the air connection is positioned so that I can access the screw for it from the rear of the scoot without removing a panel. It was a pain the first time I took off the CVT cover. I didn't even notice the clamp when I first took it off and wondered why I was having so much trouble getting it to mate back up. Now it is a simple remove two bolts and loosen one screw operation. You could try a small bead of silicone sealant run along the cover edge before replacing the gasket to keep it in place while reinstalling the cover.

One answer: YES!! It is a PITA that is... I changed the gear oil yesterday. Taking off the cover and draining the oil was easy. Then I refilled it and no problems. Reinstalling the screw with the washer didn't seem to work?! It looks like some of the thread was bad and I could only tighten the screw without the washer. Rode it to work and so far it looks like it's holding fine; that was the first annoying part of the process. Reinstalling the cover without the rubber seal coming off was annoying too. Not only that but those long screws really suck! I had the hardest time lining them up properly; that's really a design flaw in my opinion. They should've made some plastic tubes that guide the screw through the cover better... Oh, and gear oil stinks
