It looks like the common oil used is 10W-40 and the intervals are 300mi the first time and then every 1000mi. Does that sound right? That's what the website says that sold the scooter.
However the user's manual says 15W-40 (which sounds really thick for cold starts) and change at 300km the first time and then every 1000km?!
I bought 4-stroke valvoline SEA 10W-40 motorcycle oil...

I had a Helix for 18 years and that is what Honda recommends. Others on this board will tell you that the 15w-40 is a different formulation and better. Since they don't have a regular oil filter, changing the oil regularly is important for a long life.

Cool! Thanks! 10W40 it is. So, 300mi and 1000mi should work fine? It has some sort of oil filter but you just have to clean it orso. I still have to figure out where it is exactly located...
I have about 400km on it now. I'll change the oil tonight...

Make it easy to remember - after break in, change every 1K kilometer or miles, depending on how your odometer is calibrated. If your scoot sits outside in sub-freezing temps., 15W40 might be a little on the thick side for starting. Remember, CFMoto is the manufacturer of that engine and they recommend only 15W40, except for extreme climates. To each his own!

Scooter is garaged and might see temps of 40 degrees at the very minimum (which is rare). I'm in southern CA.
They talk about an oil filter but I don't see anything? The only thing I found was a screw with a spring behind it where you drain the oil. That's it. Am I missing something?
I did my first oil change tonight... How much oil do scooters usually hold? I could fill up one quart (almost a liter) but not 1.6l as I read somewhere else...

Oil capacity is .8 - .9 liters. Fill it so that the oil level is mid way up the "XXXX" marks when the dip stick is just sitting on the lip of the crank case, not screwed in.
The screen you found is the oil filter. Old fashion type oil filter designed to catch the "BIG" stuff, like pieces of bearings, pistons, etc. Just kidding! Pull out the screen and check it. Flush it if there are metal filings in it. Like Warstein said below, the actual drain plug is on the bottom of the crankcase.

There should be another oil drain on the bottom. That so called filter is on the side.

Thanks!! I did notice the bolt on the bottom but it looks like everything drained out of the side. I double checked by using the tube from my topsider but I couldn't suck anything out anymore; it was empty. Judging by the fact that I could refill a quart (about .9l), draining out of the side must be sufficient?
The oil still looked very clean.
