Hi guys, I recently purchased a Flyscooter El Capitan, which has been imported by Flyscooters in FL. It's a 2006 model with 191mi on it. I noticed there is quite some confusion on chinese scooters I more or less figured mine out. It's 250cc. The original company is Taizhou Zhongneng Motorcycle; looks like it's one of the top ten players. It has a BN172MM engine, which claims to be 13hp. Under make it says BMAC? The main problem seems to be technical information. If I want to repair of service it, I'll need some more specifics on the actual parts (spark plugs, oil filter, air filter, etc.). Where will I find all that stuff?? Also, it runs great except at cold idle where it tends to shut off and I have to restart it. Any idea what that could be? I'll also post a pic tonight. Looking forward to getting to know these mysterious chinese scooters LOL

luciano136; Your scoot most likely has the CFMoto engine/drive train, which is derived from a Honda design. This engine has been very popular with the U.S. importers of 250 scoots. It is a good engine, built with decent quality parts. Original versions here had a 10" rear wheel/tire. CFMoto is now supplying one with a longer CVT drive that will accommodate a 12" or 13" wheel/tire. Those are now appearing in the U.S. but there are still a lot of the 10" wheel scoots in the pipe line and, some importers may still be specifying the 10" rear wheel.
If you have not read through the previous threads for the larger displacement scoots, do so. You will find lots of helpful info there. As for shop manuals for the Chinese 250s, good luck finding one. My 250 came with a manual that was very vague and apparently for a 150 version of the scoot. From what I have heard on the scoot boards, others have gotten the same type manual.
Have you checked Stan Jessup's site? (http://www.oregonvintage.com/Scooter.html) You will find good info. there and Stan is the owner of a 250. He also is developing a stock of parts for these scoots.

How odd, do you have a link to the company you bought it from? Fly Scooters (www.flyscooters.com) is neither based in Fl nor do they sell any 250s.

Hey Guys, I am a rep for flyscooters. We did sell 250cc El capitan few months ago. our website is www.flyscooters.com. We are company founded in Florida, but keep most of operations in California. As for the scooter, it is a good 250cc, as long as you maintain proper liquid levels. It has plenty of power for local riding and can squeeze on the highway at peak hours. We no longer carry that model. We now devote ourselves totally to 50cc and 150cc classes. We are exploring a 300 motorcycle. But that's hush hush... Good luck, and thanks for purchasing our scooter. ScootDawg will be doing a review of our newest model the 07 Znen Cadenza in a few weeks. Please check it out.

Is there some kind of maintenance guide available (other than the very limited user's manual)? As I do with my cars, I like to keep things in great shape. Also (this might be a dumb question), is there some kind of trick as how to refuel a scooter? At most gas stations, the fuel only starts flowing when the nozzle is deep enough in the fuel tank, which then makes it hard to fill up all the way. I did manage to fill it up but had to pump like 15 times... Thanks!!

That is one of the better looking Chinese 250's that I have seen. What size is the rear wheel.

Like any Chinese scooters, the body style isn't particularly original, but what makes it so nice is how its presented. The colour is a big part of that, also from the pics, it looks like a quality assembly job, plus colour matching the luggage rack is a nice touch. Its amazing how little it takes to make a scooter look sharp, and yet most importers of Chinese don't even try. Hey Leon, got a question for you over here: scootdawg.proboards59.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1176386439Also why the concentration on 50s and 150s? 150s make sense, but as the owner of a 50, I have to wonder why bother, especially as your 50 is priced higher than one of your 150s according to your site.

Thanks for the nice comments! I did take off the front cover to adjust one of the blinkers better in its position. Other than that, all looked nice and tight.
As for the wheels, I think I remember seeing 12" on the inside of the seat. I still need to gather all my info on the parts and stuff.

Hi guys,
I took it to work this morning for the first time. Took it easy and the commute was the same as by car. There was actually an accident with a long line of cars; would've held me up at least 10min. Did it ever feel good to bypass that whole line!
Not too mention no gas, no miles and wear on my favorite sports car! Scooters rock ;D

How do the mirrors on your scooter work for you. I just got a Lance Duke 250cc Touring and as for me the mirrors just don't get it. Still waiting for the paper work to come in from scootersfactory so I can get it tagged an on the road, Took a look at the pictures you put up and the mirrors look totaly different than mine. navybusman

When I got it, one of them was loose. I just re-tightened the nut on the base of the mirrors and they have been solid ever since...
