J. Costa Variator has arrived....

Well Fedex was just here and delivered my new variator. Wow is this thing different! Drats I won't be able to install it untill sometime mid-week next week. I had surgery on my left thumb yesterday to remove some of the bone spurs and calcium deposits that this stupid disease gives ya (absolutely free)!

If you haven't seen pictures of this thing you should. I will be taking pics as I go when I do the install. I can't wait! One guy in the Maxi-Scooter forum says he gets nearly 30% more torque verified by dyno and almost 15% on top end. It also reportedly has fewer rpm's required at speed. Sounds like fuel savings and sport bike performance to me.

We will see.

Anyone have info on J.Costa variator potential fits for the 150 and 250's commonly in use by forum members? I asked Jim at BMS...no reply as yet...must be busy trying out that 295cc head on our Bandit:)

If you go to J. Costas web site they list what scoots they have variators for. The language conversion is rather humorous like chinglish.

Perhaps there is some compatibility then with the GY6 transmission (various 150's in the list) and both the cfmoto (244) and linhai (257) based drive trains? (I see Honda 250's and Majestics on that list)

Possibly, I will measure the diameter of the assy. and the shaft size it fits. Perhaps that will help people decide. Right now, I can't do much with my left hand in a temp. cast and sling...drat!
