Where do you get the right lubes and oils for your scooter maintenance? I don't have any trouble finding engine oil, but cannot seem to locate the recommended GL-3 gear lube for my drive mechanism. Any suggestions???

I get gear lube (Mobil 1 synthetic 75w90 gear oil) at Kragen.

Any standard type of gear oil - Dino, Blend, Synthetic - will do. They come in either 75W90 or 80W90 weight, depending on the formulation. Get a bottle with the long, narrow tip that can be inserted into the small hole or use something like a turkey baster. Don't really need to measure the amount, just pour it in slowly untill it starts to run out.

I happen to have a quantity of Harley Davidson Transmission Oil (Gear lube by any other name) and I have been using it in the rear gear box. But I noticed they sell several suitable brands of gear oil at Wal-Mart or Auto-Zone as well. You may need to use a small oiler can in order to get the oil in though. That bolt hole on my scoot is pretty small and hard to get to easily.

I use a pump type oil can. Just pump until it starts coming out.
