Banditms at Bandit motor sports was talking about building a retro with a 257cc engine. He said that all the measurements looked like it would work. No one to my knowledge makes a inexpensive retro style with a engine larger than a 150. Vespa makes a 250 but the price is close to 6 large ($6000.00) God luck in your quest of the perfect scooter!

Yeah there is a definate shortage of non-touring styled 250cc scoots especially in that price range.... How about a Helix clone or a used Helix... or a used Elite 250? Not very sporty looking but good scoots nontheless. Other than that at present all ther is is the Roketa and Tank and other clones of the touring 250. Jim from Bandit has the more "Reflex looking" 250 but they are near $2500 They are the Linhai engine though and not the Honda clone so they are 257cc not 244.

ScooterDad, There are plenty of options for bigger than 150cc (more power) but none that are non-touring style scooters at a price point of $2k. They are all just used scooters... which can be good or bad depending on your own views. I like some of ACD's suggestions, but those are much older bikes... it seems anything in a brand name even 7 years old is still $3k or higher for a 250cc. You just have to keep an eye peeled for a good deal... watch your local classifieds, craigslist, even eBay if you don't mind a little travel. And as an importer / seller, I don't like to endorse myself on the forums and don't intend to use them as another place to market my products. I believe the forums are for advice and knowledge, not marketing... or at least, by me. Others are free to do so if they wish... ( - ; But there is another option that you, Andi and even ACD can consider. We have been working on the RC-250 and XC-250... but those are a long time out at this point. I think they are very feasible and we will continue to develop them as models to maybe sell later in the season. But we have also been looking at upsizing the 150's... We are currently checking the feasibility of offering 180cc kits for all of our 150cc scooters... as well as performance CDI's, Coils, Plugs, Carburetors, exhausts, variators, weights, clutches, kevlar belts... you name it. The plan at present would be to offer these items as 'ala cart' options on our website... or even staged kits - Stage 1, Stage 2, etc. Our customers could either purchase the extras with their scooter and have us do the work... or could purchase the performance parts at a later date... We're finding that we can get quite a bit of power out of these little engines, and on the lighter 150cc style bikes, it makes a world of difference. Getting to 65-70 mph doesn't take nearly as long any more... Just another option for you to consider, ScooterDad... in the event you have a current 150cc model out there that you are interested in...
