Not what you think. Last Thursday on the way home from work about a block away from the HOV entrance, I had a clown from out of state make a turn from the middle lane in front of me. Was doing about 30 mph on wet road, hit the brakes and got down to 10-15 mph when my front wheel hit his left rear quarter and over I went. Landed on the right side and hit my butt. Think I have a broken tail bone or maybe just a bad bruise. Approx $1500 on the bike but both insurances are sill looking at it. The only good thing was there was a cop and an EMS both at the intersection when it happened and are witnesses. Now its a waiting game, so now I have two pain in the asses.

Smeagol,
I am sorry to hear about your accident. The most important thing is that you were not hurt or at least not hurt seriously. I hope your back feels better and you get back up on 2 wheels soon ;D

Bummer. The good news is that landing on your ass is usually better than landing on your head. I've done both. I hope everything works out with the insurance and your tail bone.

Smeagol,
I hope you heal well. I know how difficult this coccyx fracture is a pain. When I was a college freshman, we dropped a buddy ass first on a flat tombstone semi-accidental. He broke off a piece of his tail bone. It took a long time to heal poperly.
Take care, and lets all be careful out there.

Thanks for the thought full replies, his insurance is USSA ( Gov insurance for Military personal) he is in the army. Progressive (mine) told me they are slooow on claims. Tomorrow I'll start in on the daily calls to there adjuster. Yes I was wearing my armor jacket and a helmet. Landed on jeans and slid maybe 5 feet, only got wet from the rain that had stopped about 20 minutes before.

A busted tailbone's no joke! The first time I broke mine it was a year healing. The 2nd time, it wouldn't heal and after many months of pain, I finally had it removed. It came out in several pieces, so it was never going to mend.
I'm glad to hear you are otherwise ok. The scoot will get patched up no doubt once the insurance geeks get it sorted out.

Got off the phone before lunch with the insurance guy from USAA (not USSA). He said his client was upfront and was sorry he turned in front of me. He is working out of San Antonio and would have an adjuster look over the scoot in the net 2-3 days. He even said he was looking into a scooter or alternative transportation, I told him I was getting 60 mpg and keeping miles off the cage (over 9,000 miles this year between the 2 scooters I have owned) ;D Hope everybody on this site as well as on two wheels has a happy new year.

Glad to hear you are OK. In addition to my Roketa Bali 150, I too own a Burgman 400 (2007) and have had it for only a little over 2 weeks. In that short time (260 miles) I have had 2 close calls. One where a guy made a right on red in front of me. I had to do an evasive move to the left lane and almost overshot the lane into incoming traffic. The other time was in a parking lot where a guy pulled out in front of me. That time I just got on the brakes hard and that bike stopped right NOW...impressive.
From what I hear, the Tupperware on the Burgman is mighty expensive to replace. I hope you feel better soon and get your bike fixed to your satisfaction...

I think you'll have good luck with USAA... I used to have them and was in a single car accident (passed out, I believe due to CO2 poisoning though couldn't prove it), they settled quickly and enough to pay off my loan, which was greater than the value of the car. Very professional. Hopfully they will compensate you quickly. Hope your butt gets better soon! I'm spending the evening watching my Christmas present...got all three extended edition Lord of the Rings movies...hours of fun for a Tolkein fanatic.

I feel bad for not checking here in the big scoot room more often. I hope you are feeling better and remember that you are breathing and breathing is good. I am still recovering from my accident and unfortunate tumble back to the 50cc world.....LOL Everything will work out with time.

Thanks OOOPS, know what you mean about checking in. Thought about you when you were hit, at the time i didn't have time to post ( big brother only lets us on line during lunch). Talked to the dealer making the repairs, all parts are in. Hope to be back on two wheels by Tue. or Wen. weather permitting. ;D

I am sorry you went down and glad you survived. By now, you've probably fixed the scoot but still feel the tailbone. Bummer...sure, I intended the pun that time.
I just went down on my scooter: stuck throttle, icy road, 30mph and a busy intersection. I was unhurt, but the scooter is wounded fairly badly.

Thanks Earlwb and Fangerman, have been using the scoot to commute the last week and a half. Also last weekend looking for basic transportation (very used car) for my step daughter. A few days after getting back in the saddle I had to put the scoot in for the 7500 mile inspection (valves, oil & filter etc.) Wanted to ride to work this morning but it was raining enough to keep the scoot at home. Of course a few hours at work and the rain went away and the street's dried up of course. Tail bone is about all back to normal, hope everybody riding has a safe ride.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Good that you were able to slow down some before your hit. Hurts anyway you look at it. Get well soon.
