It is from Hyosung. I remember sitting my last evening at last year's Expo at a bar next to my hotel and talking with Dennis from CBXMAN on my cell phone. He had just met with the Chairman of Hyosung and learned of the pending arrangement with UM. UM is a good company but they only went 1/2 way on talking with me. I got a good laugh out of the guys in the UM booth last year when one of them looked at my badge and said, "ScootDawg.com, Hmmmm." I said, "It's powerful stuff." We all got a good laugh but maybe this year they will finish the business we started.

I just saw the UM line in Windham, NH. they look very nice. I especially like the 650 naked sport bike and cruiser. I like how they make it possible to adjust the position of the foot pegs for those like me with a short inseam. These are nice looking bikes and comparatively inexpensive. Korean, like Hyundai, they may be reliable.

As Dawg mentioend, those UM bikes are simply rebadged Hyosungs. There was a short article about the UM 650 cruiser (the Hyosung Avitar 650) in Motorcycle Cruiser magazine a while ago.. they mentioned some weird deal where UM said they couldsnm't mention Hysung while talking about UM motorcycles. I don't get that. kinda weird.

Hyosung doesnt want their name attached to it at this point just in case the dealer/importer/product goes down in flames. same reason Nissan named their us division Datsun

Anybody who can read and has half a watt of brain power will have a pretty easy time recognizing that the UM bikes really are Hyosungs, though. Doesn't seem to make much sense, to me.

Hmm... I was looking at the Kymco 250 and UM 250 cruiser style motorcycles in the shop. Cute lil things...anybody ridden them? How do they perform? I'm not entirely against the thought of another motorcycle...if the price is right. The UM 250 cycle is priced about the same as the Kymco S200 scooter (163cc versus 250 for the motorcycle). Is this a good bike for the money? Might consider it once I get money together. I do like the scooters, but it might be nice to have a cycle again, too. (and I have to say, it's much more ergonomic for me than the Kymco scooters, as the seat height is nice and low for my short little legs)
