Well, here is the story: Went to a huge Zuzuki dealer today looking for a deal on 2 Reflex Scooters, 07's. They interview you there. You have to fill out a form detailing your riding experiences, miles on the road, time on the road, your intended use of the scooter, just what do you want it for and how do you intend to use it, your height and weight. They take the form and grade it. The result tells them what scooter to put you in. If you follow their lead, they guarantee you satisfaction or your money back. They selected Bergman 400 for me and the wife. Pissed her off because she was in that weight class but oh well. The deal: They trade in the 2 matrix 150's and sell me 2 ea. 07 Bergman scooters for: $ 9,000 even. They priced 2 Reflex units for: $ 9,600.00 with the trade. ;D is this a good deal or a screw job

Twister I think you are esentially giving them the Matrix's...Get best price no trade and sell the Matrix's outright for $2000-$2500 for the pair...

Twister,
You are always going to get a screw job on a trade in. I agree with Aaron. Negotiate with the dealer for the absolute best price on the 2 new scooters and sell the 2 Matrix's yourself privately. In the end you will make out better.
Also the 2 Reflex's were $600 higher than the Burgman's, right. I am assuming they were the ABS versions then. Is that correct. Based on the price differential I would go with the Burgman's. You are getting an additional 150cc's and they added a lot of nice features and extra storage for '07 on the B400. In my opinion the Burgman 400 is the better deal but they are both great scooters.

I tell you, once you make the decision to make a move, it's hard as hell to decide isn't it. I intend this to be my last scoot purchase since I am scheduled to retire in 2 years. Then, I won't be able to afford it so I want these new ones to last us till death do us part. The Reflex's were NOT ABS. They just don't want us in a 250.

Then, I won't be able to afford it so I want these new ones to last us till death do us part. Well going with Honda or Suzuki is a good choice then because if you maintain them properly they probably will last until death does you apart. My friend has a Reflex with 14K miles and not one problem yet. Let us know what you decide.

Just figured the payments on the Suzuki web page. If I finance $9000 for 24 months the payment is: $ 407 a month. A bit large I would say but I also did another analysis: I spend $ 270 a month on coffee and smokes. Can you believe it ? That's 66% of the payment. Christ, I must be crazy. I gotta give it up.

I would agree, give it up, at least the smoking. If you don't, make sure they can install an oxygen cylinder holder on the Bergamn for you so you can ride it.

They take the form and grade it. The result tells them what scooter to put you in.... Not too put too fine a point on it, but it seems to me that you are the best person to decide how to spend your money and on which scooter! The dealer should only be concerned with the color of your money, in my humble opinion! If some dealer wants to try telling me which vehicle they want to sell me instead of asking me what vehicle I'm interested in- I'm finding a different dealer.

Just remember that it's to their advantage to place you on a bigger and more expensive scooter than what you really need... That "test" is surely weighted in their favor, not yours. From what you told everyone on this board that you expected out of a scoot, and your wife's reaction, you might be better off going with the answer you came up with yourself..... a 250 for your wife and the next step up for you. Since she's smaller than you, you want to make sure she's on something she's comfortable with, and lack of low speed maneuverability, not to mention differences in weight and overall width of a larger scoot can make it more difficult for a smaller person to deal with.

Are the Burgmans '06s or 07s? The 07 has significant improvements over the 06. If they are trying to sell you '06s, walk away because the value of leftover '06s has dropped considerably since the '07 came out and they are just trying to move their inventory.
