Seems we have another scoot dealer in the area. Carrying UM and Lifan. They had units at a local outdoor toy expo yesterday, incl a new dark blue Lifan 300cc. VERY pretty machine. Gorgeous seat. Fit/finish looked top drawer, too. Almost as big as my Burger 400! Engine had horizontal cylinder.
UM machines looked very nice, too! A small-framed (not "touring") GY6 150cc was offered for $1,700.
Couldn't see underneath plastic to check quality of welds, etc, but again, a VERY pretty machine!

Pics of the Lifan? does it look like the Strada SS300? (which is identical to the Diamo Turista 260)

WOWSER! That is SHARP! I tried to find specs and such on Lifan's site but evidently too new. Wonder what this babe will go for? Those wheels look as big as the ones on the Aprilia Atlantic that I had. Make a big difference in ride and handling. That was a super scoot, but quite heavy (400+). This one should be around 350 if I would guess. Now, if it was fuel injected... scooterdog

Wow. I think I see my next scooter! Not for a while yet, but that looks nice and I like the price. Not quite as hard on the wallet as the Kymco I've had my eyes on!

An interesting scooter. Slightly larger engine than the CFMoto 250 - 300cc and 22 hp, of Yamaha design. Don't know much about the Linhai-Yahama engine but have heard they have some cooling problems just like the CFMoto 250. According to the local Yahama dealer there is a bleed screw on the engine that will purge air from the cooling system if it is overheating. Does have 12" tires front and rear. Can be had, delivered, for $3,500 (and maybe less) from several dealers. Is it worth $1K to $1.5K more than the 250s around? New warranty up to 3 yrs./5K miles! Local Roketa dealer said a big Roketa (different body style than the TT/Bali 250) with the Linhai-Yahama engine was in for a delivery inspection. Guy bought it on the internet.

I wonder if the quality of the Linhai Yamaha is up to Kymco standards.
It seems to have at least the performance of the Kymco 250, significantly lighter weight, and more than $1000 cheaper, if you factor in shipping or dealer prep the Grand Vista or Xciting 250 is $1200-$1500 more.
Plus I think it looks more modern and definately sharper. Don't get me wrong, the Xciting 250 is one nice machine, but it is getting a little too heavy and pricey for a fun tossable scoot. Not too much more money will get a Burgman 400, so the price point of some of the Kymco's is almost getting out of line.

toxicutor; Don't forget, it is still a Chinese scooter! Don't know, Valley Scooters says they are better quality than the Tank & Roketa scoots and slightly "beefier" in size than the TT/Bali 250. Probably about the largest size you can get before it becomes a true maxi scooter. Should be a step up from the regular Chinese scoots but not up to Kymco level of quality. True, the Xciting 250 is 70-80 lbs. heavier but those extra pounds probably are the result of higher quality. Don't think they are selling as well as the Chinese 250s going for $2K - $2.5K.

I had asked the salesguy at extremescooters.biz about the MC-54 pictured on the roketa website. He thought they were going to be getting those in soon. My guess is that it will be similiar to the lifan 300cc. I think the Super Strada 300 uses this engine also??

Replying to my own post...I dont see the MC-54 on the Roketa site now. Perhaps it was another Roketa dealers site but I'm sure I saw one a week or so ago. Anybody out there willing to prove my sanity on this one:)

jontam; Welcome to the DawgPound! Yes, it is similar. Slightly different style, maybe even better looking. Does list 13" tires.

Scooterollie,
Thanks. Fun to be here. When I called Terminator scooter (Goldenvale) the only thing the guy there would say is that they couldnt answer any questions! How's the 250? I may go that route if I dont find something slightly larger soon.

jontam; You are welcome! You have probably been reading the threads here about the 250s. If not, do so. Helpful info to get you started. Here is the link to my thread about my '06 Roketa Bali: scootdawg.proboards59.com/index.cgi?board=200cc&action=display&thread=1150600893At about 1250 Kms, my scoot is running better than ever. The 250s are not without problems, as you see. I would expect there to be significant improvements to them for next year. Pretty much have it where I want it now. I'll order a kevlar belt from Stan Jessup and some weights this winter. I am pleased with the stock performance so I probably won't experiment with different roller weights. Assess your needs for a scoot. Seems like many are asking too much of their 50/150/250 scoots, expecting them to perform like scoots a notch larger and more powerful. I didn't get a 250 to cruise the Interstates. While it will probably do that, the 250 is ideal for roads a notch slower. That leaves ample power reserve. Also don't think I want to be sailing along at 65 - 75 mph on one of these!

Dear Scooterollie; Hmmm. perhaps your right I probably I'm asking too much from a budget priced scoot. Like some of my fellow dawgs I lament If I only had another 10mph cruising speed. I'd have all I need. If only someone would come out with an after market over drive add on for our scoots then so many of us could achieve our performance needs. I've ridden the tank quite a bit at its claimed 65mph. It's really not bad at all. A little light and the wind blows you around but you get used to it after a while. With your head tucked into the windshield the steady reassuring humming outboard motor like sound coming form the bike.I kinda get lost in the zen of the moment One old geiser one bike one moment, one state of just being. As tomorrows money worries melt into the pavement behind me, My mind clears and is filled with the miles in-front of me.Happiness and peace come upon me. I think Ill go for a ride now...slowfire

Thank You Friend's.The sweatiest honey is the taste of the accolades of ones friend's and peers. You honor me with your kind gifts. But all I have to offer are words. At times they seem so inadequate. and at others there full of healing and solace.and yet again sometimes I'm just full of It. Somehow It changes you .Those who have been gnashed upon by the jaws of death and yet escaped fate. Appreciate life's every day mundaneness. Deeply grateful just to still exist. and be apart of everything that happens under the sun.And after all was it not Mr. Lee who said It's all about the ride. Truly that's the way it is on this trip Thur life.It really is all about the ride. So let us Ride well and do as much good as we can....slowfire
