The big truck with the big box came by at 11:00 this AM. Unboxed and uncrated the beast and set to assembling the puzzle. Not too bad, but the front fender took me a long time since I had already put the front wheel on. Those two bolts on the inside are HARD to reach, and the fender did not line up very well with the attaching points. Might be best to put on then the wheel. The front disc rotor bolts were a tad loose, so started there and went front to rear tightening all I could reach. The windshield (a bit of a joke after seeing some good stock units on other scoots) was a challenge since the holes were elongated and some of the nut receivers were stripped. Got that done and then to the mirrors. Now, this is where I kept hearing a familiar echo "You Gets What You Pays For". What pieces of fecal material! Will be looking for replacements soon. They do not adjust well and the little lenses over the turn lights are popping out. (JC Whitney has an interesting pair with lights for 29.95 Hmmm ?) The headlights are shining down at the pavement, so thanks to Stan, I hope to be able to figure out how to adjust. The little wheel does nothing when turned. Replaced the fuel filter (what a bear to get to anything on this rascal!) Good news on the coolant. Was full (almost) of real antifreeze! This scoot was made in June, so maybe they have read a few posts on the overheating problem.Went for a short ride after I got it cranked (about 5 minutes or so). Will change oil tomorrow and scoot around the neighborhood. Will post if it heats up (or SAYS that it is). Anyway, I am one whooped pup so it's off to my dog bed for now. THANKS AGAIN for all your help, Dawgs. I would have been frustrated and panicky had I not read the scoop on this scoot here on the the Dawg site! Later, scooterdog PS to Stan: The setup pics sure came in handy!

scooterdog; Congrats on your new scoot! I would change the antifreeze anyway. You don't know the quality (corrosion inhibitors) or blend of what the assembler put in. Stan Jessup saw signs of aluminum corrosion inside his cooling system early on. Any good brand name antifreeze formulated for aluminum engine parts will do but I prefer low acid Zerex G-05 "HOAT" formulation. Not available everywhere but NAPA can get it if they don't stock it. Have heard that Pap Boys carries it.

Yes, congrats on the successful delivery and assembly. Aaron, I'm going to pretend like I didn't hear your comment.

Thanks, Dawgs. A quick question on the oil fill; do you measure the level on a 172mm engine with the dipstick screwed in or just setting on the outside of the opening? And is the capacity 1.6 liters or .9 ? The so-called manual with the scoot says capacity .9 and .75 typical oil change. The "Brochure" I downloaded says the higher amount. Thanks! scooterdog

scooterdog; A sticker on the side of my Roketa 250 says .8L. That's what I use. Get a plastic measuring cup from WalMart and short, small mouth funnel. 800 ccs is just right and brings the level on the dipstick to about the center of the XXXXX marks with the dipstick sitting on the lip of the opening or around the top of the marks if you screw it in. Don't forget to remove the filter plug on the side. More oil will drain from there. If you don't, .8L will slightly overfill. This works for all 250s with the CFMoto Honda clone engine.

Thanks, scooterollie, You just reminded me I forgot to pull that plug out on this oil change! Oh, well, will catch it next time. I removed a bit of the oil with a baster and now it measures at the top of X's with scoot level and dipstick resting on ledge. Still too high? My home-made funnel is a plastic cone shaped one made from a mole-bait container. About 8" long and the end actually threads into the hole so it is self supporting! I put in a whole quart initially, thinking I would need yet about a 1/2 quart more. So, will watch level closely and remove more if you and others advise. Is the "screen" behind the other large round plug you mentioned? (Thank goodness for the complete owners manual !! ). Diff oil was not as bad as I thought it would be. But, would sure be nice if it was as easy as manual said.(It is wrong, shows a 150 drawing). Removing big cover over belt seems ridiculous to change diff fluid !! But, the gasket was flopping around until I spread a thin layer of silicone sealant on the inside of the gasket channel facing the metal, then smoothed gasket over it. Stayed put even though I had to work it around the airbox. Used a good quality diff oil (semi-synthetic blend 75/90). Will be a while before I mess with it again! scooterdog
