Hi Gang, After reading numerous posts here, decided to take the leap and join all you scooter crazies on the Dawg site. I am awaiting my Tank 250 and with all the helpful info here, just might be able to keep it running a while! My scooter experience over the years has been minimal. Had a Sears moped in 1964 (yes, thats correct) and a very nice Aprilia Atlantic 500 back in 2003. But this 250, at the price, seems just what I need for now. Numerous motorcycles in between those years, but the fun of scootering brought me back. So...as I anxiously await delivery (And I must say the folks at EVO have been very cooperative thus far), I will watch this site for any pertinent info to help in setting up and enjoying my new scoot.Later, scootpup

Those Sears mopeds were great! I got mine as a Christmas present in 1956.

Definetly keep us informed ... the prices at EVO are tempting. If you have any problems with the Tank 250, get in contact with Dawg. He's ... umm ... got a few Tank 250 parts

Scooterdog,
Welcome and good luck with the new Tank when it arrives. You will find all the help you need with it on this site. Stan Jessup is your guy on the Tank 250. I am interested in what you have to say about the Aprilia Atlantic 500. I am moving up to a 500 in several months and although I have pretty much decided on the Kymco 500 I am still open to checking out other models and the Italian 500's (460's) have caught my attention. The Atlantic is a sweet machine. If you don't mind can you tell me about your thoughts on quality, performance, comfort, etc.? Thanks.

Thanks for the welcome! The motorcycle folks may not give me a wave, but it is nice to know there are a few people left who favor fun and practicality over status and machismo. I always waved at ANY two-wheeler, even from the seat of my Gold Wing and the Nomad. So...not to criticise any segment of the fresh-air motoring populace, but scooter folks sure are a friendly bunch.
The Atlantic was awesome! Sitting at a traffic light and getting sneered at by cagers then watching them disappear in my rear view mirrors was fun !! Fit, finish and performance and comfort were excellent. The seat height was a bit much for me even thogh I am 5'9", so I trimmed the seat and made lowering brackets for the shocks for a total drop of about 2". Topped out at about 95mph. But for nearly six large, it should have.
Yes, Stan's comments helped me do a reality check and insured that lower expectations reduce disappointments. I plan on doing the suggested upgrades (and a few tricks of my own) after I get the Tank assembled and running. So far, EVO has stayed in touch with me and responded to all e-mails. The OWNER called to address a few concerns I had and we chatted about online sales and scooters in general. I do appreciate their willingness to answer quite candidly a few reservations I had.
So with this said, Thanks Again for the Welcome and we will keep in touch as this new adventure unfolds.

PS: For those wanting to upgrade to a bigger scoot, be sure and read the "Rider" magazine article on the six scooters in the November, 2005 issue. Very informative!

Ringo,
You do not want to ask Dawg how he feels about the 250.

Ringo, You do not want to ask Dawg how he feels about the 250. I've got nothing against 250's in general. Just don't ask me how I feel about Tank as a company. They can either send one that works or come pick up this thing. They seem to be interested in none of the above. If they were on the ball, they would know that this forum and the main website get tens of thousands of visits each month. I've refrained from being negative so far....................or, maybe I just was. ;D

Hi Dawgs, This question could be under a new thread, but, since I am still waiting for my scoot, I figured it would be OK. Saw a scooter on ebay (new) that looks like the spittin' image of the Tank 250. It is a BBS Macho Man sold by Galata Sports. Similar price but with different features. One chuckle in the specs is the 10 and 12 inch tires mounted on 13" wheels!! But...It also said 19 HP and that made mw wonder if it might be a similar, but different machine. I do not know how to post the pic I copied but you can see it at this web page link:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMS-MachoMan-250-cc-Street-Legal-Scooter-Motorcycle_W0QQitemZ290025888387QQihZ019QQcategoryZ6722QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Anyway, still on track for Friday delivery. Will keep the Dawgs posted. scooterdog

scooterdog; The scoot on ebay is made by JMStar - you can just make it out on the ID tag. Uses the Honda clone 250 engine/drive - probably a CFMoto product. Funny about the 10"/12" tires and 13" rims! At least it does accurately list a 10" rear tire. Most incorrectly list a 12" rear like found on the 150 version. It does not have an inner rear splash fender. Neither does my Roketa. It does have a rear ABS device - usually not found on these scoots. The rear panel above the tail lights has the removable panel as found on Tanks and perhaps some others. Floor mats are like those on my Roketa Bali. Mirror mounting is a little different than I have seen on others. Primary speedometer markings in KPH like my Roketa. I like the CD player better than a radio but don't think either is very useful on these scoots. Headlights have the smaller halogen bulbs and I couldn't find the digital clock referred to - unless it is the one on the CD player. Price, including the shipping is in the ballpark but you can do better on the warranty length - if your "dealer" remains in business and responds to your e-mails/phone calls! Who imports it? It's anyones guess. Many of the "Name Brand" U.S. importers like PSF and Roketa will batch sell to anyone wishing to make up their own brand name.
