The Fashion 250cc (helix clone) by CF Moto has been around for a while. What do you know about them? How well do they perform? How many miles have you seen on one? What caveats or warnings would you give someone thinking about buying one?
I'm asking all this because (obviously) I'm interested in the bikes. I know many people including my wife think they're ugly. But the Helix is the most comfortable machine I've ever sat. I just can't afford the Honda, so the Chinese seems like a good alternative depending on the feedback I can get from you all.
Thanks, Fred

The cfmoto engine is pretty solid, and the parts are interchangeable with the Honda Helix. I am not sure of the finish on the Fashion, but if its similar to the V3 and V5 it should be very good. There are some tricks that you have to do in order to keep things running, but that is with any bike.
Someone who has a fashion should be able to add more.

Why would you buy a scooter that you and wife think is ugly Yes I know you said its comfortable but I cannot imagine dropping $3K+ for a machine that I thought was ugly.

Fred I looked into these a lot recently. All Helix clones are made by CF-Moto but only the CF-Moto is assembled by them. Assembly quality and stuff like rubber parts, tires, belts, fuel lines, battery, spark plug, etc. can suffer with the lesser brands. The Helix is comfy many even use them for touring. I wouldn't feel bad about any of them although the CF-Moto is probably the best bet. Then again keep your eye out for a good used Honda as well. And Dave he said his wife thought they were ugly not him! I'm so ugly I make any scoot look good!

fredgold52,
Sorry I misread your post. Aaron pointed that that only your wife thinks the scooter is ugly not you. However, my point still stands because getting a scooter that your wifes thinks is ugly might be just as bad if she lets you know about it all the time. I can see it now "honey there you go running off on that ugly scooter of yours again" ;D

Jacine mentioned some 'tricks' needed to keep them running. WHat would those 'tricks' be? Also, what is a reasonable speed a person could expect to maintain with a Fashion out on the two-lanes?

Fred like any chinese scoot your talking about changing fluids when you get it and often through break in, checking hoses wires fasteners all that stuff. Taking time to Lock tite screws and bolts ect. Also the useless alarm/ remote start should be disabled since they can cause a 1 amp drop per day in the battery and if you don't run it for a few days it may not start. No kick backup on these! Also check Jacine's Yahoo Group CFMoto for more info, and tips ect. A wealth of info there. Just go to Yahoo groups and search for CFMOTO.
