Thanks! I'll get to work on the Kevlar belt. I think I found one that will work just fine from Polini. It's slightly longer, but the difference is insignificant. The 835-20-30 would probably work as well, but I would like to have the wider version that Polini makes also. Yes, I have a Tank 250 in transit now that should be here next week. I hope to start some service articles on it very soon. Stan
Stan; The # on the belt was "828 225 30". Can you cross-reference that to a Kevlar belt? Source for one? Know anyone offering performance mufflers like the MRP for the 150s? Did you get a 250 yet? If so, which one? Thanks!

Go here and download the manual for the S2 250. It's not the same scooter but it is a very in-depth owner's manual for a 250cc liquid cooled scooter. A lot of similarities. www.daelimmotor.co.kr/eng/Find the product page for the S2 250 scooter and you can download the manual from that page.

MCO, Bill of Sale & Odometer Statement:
Received the above in the mail today (Monday 6/26) from NDPowersports. All were very official looking and properly filled out. My scooter arrived on Friday the 16th and it took another ten days to get the documents by mail. Receiving paperwork after an internet purchase has been a matter of discussion on some scooter boards with some folks waiting many weeks, even months. I suppose if you got your scooter and wanted to register it the same day, a delay of ten days would be a problem. For me, it was not. My initial break-in scooting is done all on local back roads and I just switched the plate from my 150 to the new scoot. I transferred insurance immediately and will transfer the plate "officially" at the DMV tomorrow. I used the time for shakedown, not wishing to get too far from home until the scooter has "proven" itself. So far, NDPowersports has been OK. Just like many of the others, they can be confused about the specs of their products and hard to pin down but basically they have come through with what they promised and in a timely fashion.

Update on my Roketa Bali 250; I thought i would summarize my experience with the 250 since receiving it on 6/16/06. My previous scooter was a Roketa 150 Phantom clone, with which I was very pleased, but felt I would like a slightly larger, smoother riding scoot with more power for going outside my local community.
Following is a list of my experiences to-date: -Ordered from NDPowersports (NDP) by phone on 6/2/06 after much discussion w/Dan & was told that I could expect delivery sometime after 6/25/06. -Thought I was getting one supplied to NDP by Power Sports Factory (PSF). -Was assured I could have my color of choice, silver. -Called NDP on 6/12/06 w/a few more questions & was told they got the shipment early & the scoot had shipped out on 6/9/06. Noticed that their website now mentioned "Roketa" as the supplier, a fact confirmed by Dan at NDP. -Scoot arrived on 6/16/06 and was matte black instead of silver. Not devastated but preferred silver. -No shipping damage. Basic setup only required installation of windshield, mirrors, rear rack & trunk. -Checked fluid levels, hoses, clamps, bolts & nuts. Filled w/gas, started after 4 cranks and iOn fled well. Let it run for a while. -First ride scoot ran well but blew the coolant hose off the water pump. Caught in time, good excuse to refill w/known quality coolant. -Now have almost 400 km on it and it continues to perform great. Like the power band - torque comes on strong at low end and continues to pull well as speed increases. Have had it up to 55 but have not consistently cruised over 45. Ride and handling are better than my 150 and the scoot does not feel or sound as stressed at speed. -During the past couple of weeks I have replaced the stock NGK plug w/an iridium NGK & installed a better gas filter. Changed engine oil & gear oil at about 100 miles, and checked belt (Bando, standard) while CVT cover was off - easily removed to drain gear oil. No problems with blowing oil, leaking oil, or consuming oil. Problems I have had or discovered: 4 hose clamps not properly applied - 1 vacuum, 2 coolant, 1 gas hose, front brake caliper has a slow leak that appears to be around one of the piston seals. Just today requested one from Tech Support at NDP. Will see how that goes. Radiator cap would not hold pressure at full normal temp. - had to bend the locking tabs in 1-2 mm and now not it does not release coolant when pressure builds. Tabs were loose and not allowing cap to fully seat in locked position. If you touched the cap on one of the ears after pressure built up, you could hear a hissing sound as it leaked coolant around the seal. Rear brake rotor has a slight visible warp as you spin the rear wheel when cold but seems to straighten out some when heated up. Go figure. While these things could be a real concern for some and perhaps not be caught before something more serious occurred, I am not very concerned because I knew I would have to accept responsibility for setup and trouble shooting if i took delivery by drop-ship. All important nuts & bolts were marked with paint stripes indicating they had been properly tightened, and maybe re-checked. None of these have been found to be loose. -Overall fit and finish is decent and acceptable but not outstanding - but I didn't expect top-tier quality, anyway. I have added a few dozen zip ties to better secure hoses and wires. The more I ride, the more I enjoy the scoot. The matte black finish in this style scoot makes it look like a stealth machine - almost like a Black Hawk helicopter from the front. Everyone else seems to be impressed with the color. -Roketas don't come with an inner rear splash fender, Tank does. I ordered one from Scooters ! Georgia (with bracket) and installed it last week - $15 + S&H. -Added a factory alarm/remote start that was given to me by a Tank owner who didn't want it. I'm strange in that I like the alarm/remote start but put a hidden kill switch in the line so it won't drain the battery when I don't need it. -All in all, I am now very satisfied with the 250. At first, I wasn't certain I had made the right move because the 150 was a very stylish and well running machine and probably OK for most of my needs. I have had a 50cc retro, 150cc, and now the 250. Each has it's own unique characteristics, strong points, and weak points. Because of the complexity and lack of a track record here in the U.S., the decision to purchase a water cooled scoot, as well as from whom you purchase the scoot, should be made very carefully.

Scooterollie,
Great info. It is posts like yours that help other people make informed decisions and know what to expect when they order a Chinese-made scoot online. Now come on man you need to open that baby up ;D You have had the scoot since the middle of June and have only had it up to 55mph? Get those 250cc's working brother ;D You should be able to get a top-speed of 75-80mph depending on the conditions with that machine, right?

ddillon; Thanks for the compliment! I expect the scoot will, indeed, do 75 but don't know if I want to be on it when it does so. Your KYMCO XCITING, with it's larger tires, is much more stable at higher speeds! Scoots with 10"/12"/13" tires are a little more squirrely at higher speeds. I got it for the performance it has for speeds up to 60. My skin is thinner, and my bones are more brittle than they used to be and take longer to heal! Besides, I want to live long enough to spend ALL my kids inheritance!

Dunno about being an expert, but I can fix anything I can break (lots of practice). ;D I don't observe any special method of breakin. I ride it like it was already broken in, but I do change the oil often and I don't abuse the engine. The slow break in that is in the manual is a crock, but it's written for the manufacturers benefit. I switch to synthetic at around 5-600 miles (not kilometers). scooterollie; my Tank TT250 is a ktmmex manufacture . has lots of inspection stickers. It has been a joy to ride with know issues at all. but ture that the radio is kinda lame. I like the alarm and remote start on mine. have no battery problems yet. But I do think ill go to the NAPA fuel fillter. According to the OEM plates under the seat mine is the 255cc "Big Block" motor. and yes it does like gasoline quite well.It does hovere carry my 300lbs carccuss to 65plus mph with ease and still has thottle left!MR. Lee im within 60 mi of you the offer to review my scoot still open. slowfire

slowfire; Welcome to the forum! Glad to hear have had a good experience. Stan Jessup of Oregon Vintage (http://www.oregonvintage.com/) has one just like yours. If you have not visited his site, do so and click on "Scooter Information Page". There, you will find a good source of info about the 250s.
It is interesting that your scooter is listed as "255cc". The Honda engine these are based on was a 244, IIRC. Yes, "KTMMEX" is the manufacturer of Tank scooters. Is yours an '06? How long have you had it and how many KMs/miles do you have on it?
I just started measuring gas and checking mileage this week. First check was 61.4 MPG. My 150 started in the 60s and climbed to the 70s by the time I sold it. Some attributed to break-in, and some to easing up on the throttle after you have had it for a while.

Im a car person so to me it feel like running 65 on a bar stool. lol. but I do dearly love it. I have about 300-350Km. on it sofar. and as stated know issues just outrages fun. oops I gotta run for work now will post more later.slowfire

I have just got the Roketa Bali 250 too. I am awaiting the paper work to make it titled and then of course I can get the plate. It looks great. I have only a couple of comments: 1) Wheel assemble diagram was back wards and wrong - but as you guys said you do not need to be a brain doctor to figure it out. Assembly was easy. 2) The right mirror could not be adjusted (kept me looking a the back tire) as the crowling was in the way - I 'adjusted' the cover with a coping saw and file and you cant tell I cut a 1/4 inch from around the brake reserve box. Now it is OK. 3) the muffin cooling fan is real noisy. It is even louder than the engine. I have sent a note to customer support at scooterdemand asking them about this. It works fine but squeals something fierce. 4) I know you all have talked about fit and finish, I have noticed that the 'front hood' is off center by about a 1/2 inch. not very noticeable but I have noticed it. 5) the manual is funny, I love the translations. ;D 6)The seat is great and comfortable, it has more of a 'back' to the seat than some other scooters. 7) The foot pads are rubber pads, in putting them on the body I tried to use the pre-marked holes in the pads and drill a small pilot hole. This worked except one spot where the hole was positioned over a main support. there I had to move the hole forward an inch or so. I would like to replace these with a real aluminum set. 8) over-heating is not a problem so far. The temp gauge varies from half to 3/4 and the temp here is in the mid-90s.
So would I buy another one - So far the answer is yes - the wife wants a 150 de and it will most likely be a roketa.

fredinohio; Thanks for the post. Interesting that you had to assemble the front tire and mats on yours - mine shipped with the tire in place and the mats screwed down. I don't believe your fan should squeal. I cannot hear mine as it cycles when the engine is running. After I shut the scooter down, it runs anywhere from a few seconds to almost a minute but does not make any more noise than I think such a fan should. You may have a bad fan. Temp. sounds about right, especially if it is holding as you said in this hot weather on a sustained run.
On the main info plate (square one), what is the name of the manufacturer/assembler? My plate is under the seat.

scooterollie my plate is just in front of the gas cap. mfg: Unique Industrial & Trading Co Ltd for Roketa mfg date is june 2006 Vin starts 5RYS6.... is this a good manufacturer? Another observation is how they route wires thru the interior body. if they need a hole to move wires thru the underseat trunk (ie for the fuse box) ... wack, wack, wack wack with a mini grinder and they notch out a sort-of square hole and push the wires thru. I am going to have to cover these holes as they will allow dirt and water to enter the under seat storage. I will most likely adjust the radio position- to get more room under the seat. Have not heard back from scooterdemand yet on the fan. As I said when the fan runs it is louder than the engine. I have found a brand new TANK dealer (and roketa too I think) in North Ridgeville, ohio this is just west of Cleveland. Still waiting for the paper work for the title.

fredinohio; Can't say as I have ever heard of that assembler. Mine was the same way. Seems they are sourcing from several different assemblers - wherever they get the best deal of whoever can supply the order. Hard to tell. Yeah, know what you mean about assembly and wires. Mine was not quite that bad, only one hole for wires to the battery and it was round. Found a rubber grommet of the correct diameter, sliced it so I could get it around the wires and popped it in the hole. Nicer finish. I removed the entire radio, speakers, and wiring harness. Not really interested in having a radio and, as you found, it takes up a lot of space. My VIN starts the same way. What was the length of the warranty?

warranty is 18 months- parts only, but I now see that they are offering 24 months. you must have a mechanic assemble/checkout the bike to get the warrenty, but they also give you a $50 rebate to cover most of the cost. You have to fax a copy of the bill back to scooterdemand. I see Tank has a rep in north ridgeville and a tank 150 touring is $1898 plus $50 for a trunk thru the local firm, and I think they gave a 30 or 60 day warrenty. (has radio alarm remote start) I got my papers to make her legal but the ohio title/license bureau are now closed until Monday. Oh well whats another day. I believe I will need to come up with $170 for taxes Plus the title fee and the lisense fee plus the manual processing fees so we are most likely talking about $220 or so. I got an itchy finger for the starter key...

fredinohio; Sounds like a good deal on the warranty and the $50 rebate on inspection fee. My supplier said they would back the warranty even if I didn't get it inspected but had my dealer friend send in the paperwork to Roketa anyway - just to be sure. The warranty on my '06 was 12 months. Some of the internet sellers are still only offering short warranties. Might have something to do with the deal they made with the importer. Longer warranties do add to the cost. Does seem like the importers are extending their warranties. I started with a 6 mo. on the 50cc, went to a 12 mo. on the '05 150 & '06 250, and now they are 24 mo. Maybe it's competition.

What kind of top speed are you getting with the 250? I get 55-60 out of my Phantom clone but would like a bit more and don't want to spend a ton on performance parts just to overstress the small engine so upgrading to the 250 would be a no brainer.

Post by scooterollie on Aug 9, 2006 14:13:02 GMT -5
slow96z; Welcome to the forum! I am not a good one to tell you about top speed. I moved up to a 250 for easier cruising at 50-60 mph, also, but most of my 500 miles have been done on back roads with 45 mph limit. I have had the scoot up to 55 with ease but just for short stretches - no long runs. I didn't get it for 60-70 mph cruising but you could do that easily. I did notice the other day that after 50 mph the acceleration rate slows. Having moved from a 150 I can say that the scoot does feel better - more stable and smoother - at speed. The Honda clone design for the 250 is different and incorporates another joint in the swing arm and large rubber bumper for less vibration at speed.
