There is a Company out of Canada that claims they restore Vintage Vespas. Their name is Vesparetta. Their website is full of porn and gay images. They claim their website has been hacked and they are working to repair it, but there are many people who have doubts about the website. So just something to watch. Their link has showed up on a couple of the Yahoo group scooter forums. They may be legit and may not.

I banned them from my Burgman site. The user name was mens pharmacy which was a red flag. I had read on this site about those restored Vespas and I figured they were junk. I couldn't see any useful information from them for the Burgman owners. I considered it spam.
I had someone join from an oufit that sold batteries. I googled them and it was grayed out and it said warning this site could damage your computer.

The Vesparetta site was hacked. He spammed every scooter forum and yahoo group with his viet restores and I guess the vintage guys didn't appreciate it very much and had a little fun at his expense.

Those Asian Vespa restorations are pretty much junk before a person gets it. They mix and match old parts. use lots of Bondo, weld up holes in rusted out frames. They do everything. Basically the restorations are for looks only, like if you need something for a display or museum where it'll look good but never be ridden. Remember the Asians ride these things until they can't ride them any longer, using whatever they can scavenge or jury-rig to keep them going. As they didn't have parts or the money to buy the parts even.
I suppose what is worse if someone who got ripped off buying one of these restorations and then trying to foist it off on a unsuspecting buyer via Craigs List or Ebay or Amazon or something.

I`ve seen these "restorations" advertised on a site in Vietnam. They all look really gorgeous and the prices are really cheap. One of the pictures of them restoring a Vespa looks like the legshield is full of bondo. I read somewhere that they use Coke cans to make gaskets and engine parts. They talk about how a master Vespa restorer oversees the work and what high standards they have. The things would probably break in half if they hit a good pothole...

This is a 1969 Vespa restored in Vietnam. It now has 22K hard New Orleans pothole miles on it and it's running and riding fine, no problems at all: Saying that all Viet restos are bad is like saying that all Chinese scoots are bad. -Rich

Rich- That scooter is absolutely gorgeous. I saw Vespas just like yours on the Vietnam sites, but I was told that they`re not done right. Is there a more reputable place in Vietnam than others? Which place did you get yours from? If it runs as good as it looks, it would definately be worth the prices they`re asking. -Lance

Lance, That scoot actually belongs to Alan, a member of our scooter club. He is from England and he went to the factory to inspect it before he purchased it. I will ask him where he got it, but it was a long time ago... This company that did his actually gets them from India, and they do not use multiple scoots welded together and tin cans like a lot of the shops do. I will ask him for you. Here is Alan in another picture proudly showing off the '69: I am not a Vespa fan, but this one is actually very beautiful, fast, and has a unique sound to it. The pictures don't do it justice since I use high compression on them for the web and they pixelate. Trust me, it looks MUCH nicer in person! -Rich
