Hi, I'm also seriously looking into the Lifan dual sport and they are well though of. Go to chinariders.net for some good dealers and reviews and advice on Lifan. I don't think this company is well though of there and by looking at the web site, I see they are lying about the top speed of their scooters and motorcycles and use the term Honda a lot trying to get you to think they are the same as a Honda. That being said, their prices are as low as anyone and they are probably as good as any of the low end scooters. This dealer is well thought of at Chinariders.net and they are about the same price: www.motoxtreme.net/973.htmlI have never purchased anything rom either place, so take my advice for what it is: advice to do more research.

I know nothing of the company selling these Lifan scooters, other than they would not know the truth if it bit them in their buttocks! Designed on the Honda Reflex? Yup, they both have two wheels and use a gasoline motor, period! 70 mph.? Only if dropped off a cliff of sufficient height, speed is guaranteed, but only for one trip!

70 mph on a 150cc scooter is way optimistic to me. But that's marketing. I sorta like the sport bike myself. Can you get parts for these things or not is the question.

oldog1984, I don't want to make any wrong assumptions but looking at the website is telling me that it is, most likely, less established dealer. Even the pictures of the scoots look like they were taken in somebody's front yard. I didn't look too hard but on a dealer's web site you shouldn't search for a contact address. There's an email and the warehouse address. I know the price is tempting but I'd do more research before I'd buy online. This may mean nothing but look at this: www.americanlifan.com/lifan3/Buyer Beware section...

Olddog, I just went to the web site and noticed that near the bottom of the page it says that this sale ends Jan 16, tomorrow. I went there three times on different days and the sale end date always seems to be the day after you look at it. (chuckle)

I have not sold a single 150cc scooter that can do 70mph. And I have sold thousands of them. The 150cc will do about 55-60 mph with an average sized person on a flat road. You may be able to hit 70 if you go down a 30 degree hill for about 2 miles and weigh about 300lbs.

I agree - top speed of a 150 should be around 55-60 mph.
A number of dealers I've spoken with think highly of American Lifan. One of the things they like (because they're Brick & Mortar dealers) is that Lifan does not drop ship its products. You need to buy through a B&M dealer who will provide you with the service and parts support you need.
Lifan is reputed to have a quality product and supports its dealers well.

Lifan dropships for anybody who wants it. Thousands of 150s there has to be one that goes 70, I can make a 150 do 70 no problem with a little help. Nitro says they offer high quality but sell Roketa and Tank, no shop, no parts listed, no upgrades, no shop did I mention they have no shop. 30 day warranty, you must dig for phone number, no warranty if mechanic does not assemble but they do have great prices if you shop on price alone which just about anyone will give you same price because of the economy which will get better. Lifan does make alot of engines for alot of companies.
Just what I found, no big deal everyone should get they feel comfortable with

Lifan is a strange beast indeed. AL is supposed to be their distributor yet theyll import to anyone who pays.
ive actually been to the dealer mentioned above (motoextreme.net) and while the owner was nice enough and seemed fairly knowledgeable........ there is no B&M dealership and most of his business is dropship.
if you look at the pics on the site- the ones that look like they were taken in a garage look that way because the shop is in the garage of his house. not that his garage was converted to a shop, the bikes are stored in his garage next to his car (or in the box truck in the driveway). the pics where the bikes are lined up outside were taken at the place of his dayjob (he took the bikes there for the pics).
not bashing him, id prob do business with him if he offered something i was interested in- just showing how AL adds to their own confusion by saying they only deal with B&M shops and do not drop ship....when in reality theyll sell to anyone with cash.
ive ridden the red GS and the red GY on the front page, the GS is pretty flimsy but the GY (dual sport) was actually pretty nice. he did a really nice job making sure everything was right on that one.

The only time I have had one go up to and over 70mph is when I have done some upgrades....jets...free flowing air filters...etc. As for the Reflex crap...GIMME A BREAK!! THere are 2 Lifans... Chinese Lifan and American Lifan. American Lifan ...although still chinese is better quality. That scooter is NOT a straight Lifan product or it would say it on the scooter body!

Some of those may not really be Lifan products. The scooter on the link above is identical to my Roketa Fiji 150. It doesn't even have a Lifan 150cc engine in it. The Lifan CVT case covers all say Lifan on them. It is a common trick to advertise a huge title page with a brand name on it, but all the scooters or motorcycles never mention the brand except in passing like with a model name. When you buy it, you will get something from a different company.
I suspect a lot of these really are SUNL, Roketa branded vehicles along with some other brands as well.
I also find it fascinating how everyone uses that same identical warehouse photo too. With all the warehouses in existance, you would think we'd have some variet there.
