Anyone know anything about these E-ton scooters? I was going 45 in my van and one passed me! Definately sounded 2-stroke, had fat tires, looked like a good scoot. Anyone got one?

Yeah, they have a small but mighty Yahoo group. Owners seem enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I looked at Eton at the Expo and they are definitely good quality scoots.

Like Dawg said, only thing to add is that as I understand it, they're another Taiwan product, but they were only two stroke, so stick a fork in them, that was Eton's entire line, the Beamer and Beamer II as I recall.

Don't stick a fork in 'em yet! A lot of these companies stocked up on '05 models to buy a little time. Anything in stock before '06 is fair game to sell. Also, I believe I remember reading that EPA could grant extensions to companies for which this was a severe hardship.

I did a job today and leaning against the shed was what I thought was an E-ton turned out to be an MuZ mosquito. Woman says it's broken belongs to her son. I researched MuZ it seems they pulled out of the US market. Would this 50cc 2-stroke share engine driveline parts with anything else? Thought If it was cheap it might be worth rebuilding for wifey.

Ummm, I can ask my dealer, I think some of them used CPI parts, so you might still be able to get them. She'll be calling me about something tomorrow, so I'll poke her about it.
As to wavers, they're only good to 08, at which point, you have to have a solution. Genuine is working on one for their Stella (LML Star) and has lined up two replacement models while TGB has apparently managed to get their two stroke past. Most others have given up, especially companies like Eaton who's product line consists of one scoot, and is unlikely to be able to afford to either solve the problem or tool up a new model for a market as small as ours sadly. Really means some good products are likely to fall off the market sadly.

Once again our government saves us from ourselves! Javarod thanks for the input on the Muz let me know what your dealer says. I hope Genuine can find a way to save the Stella...I like it being out there. The Bajaj was never quite as cool in my opinion but it was four stroke and only a little slower.

Yes that's it this one is an older model. Looking at it it was dumped...panels are ok but left hand brake lever missing, both mirrors snapped off, rear turn signal intact but broken out of plastic fender(rear) Dad says it has carburation problems. I tried just pushing the kickstarter down couldn't move it but I don't know if I had to pull or hold something else to do so. 2026miles on scooter not torn, scratched, or broken any where else. Looks and feels like it was a quality built machine. The son is supposed to call me soon I should find out more. I think I can fix the turn signal mount I have had success with "welding" this kind of plastic and remounting things. If the drive line is compatible with other two-strokes I may have a go at it. Dad says it went 40 as it was and looks stock.

Was that the exact body style? Apparently it comes in a few versions: www.gekgo.com/mz-gas-scooters.htmlThe 125 uses a CPI engine, one of the guys around here has one. I did forget to ask my dealer if they can confirm that but I know in this country that CPI offers two motors, one in there scootcycles, a 125 IIRC, and a 50cc 2t in their Oliver City. Ifn its the CPI motor, it should be easy to get those parts.

Sadly, no solid answer when I called her today, though she did say that the one she saw bore a strong resemblence to the Oliver City. Hmmm, could give www.logansmc.com a holler, they used to sell them, or at least the 125 version.

This is definately the 50cc mosquito SX. I found the dealer up here that sold it new and I've got an inquiry in to him. He now sells E-ton and Schwinn since MuZ pulled out of the US. The kid hasn't called me yet and from what his Dad said he wants too much considering the situation. Again I'll wait and see. Guys and Gals thanks for all your help on this stuff!

The kid that owns it hasn't called me back yet and his dad says he wants $300 for it.....I think I'll pass for now too many questions maybee for $100 I'd take a shot. If they still have it this fall maybe they'll come down.

I've got a 2005 E-Ton Beamer Matrix, and love it, it's stock, only change is cut the limiting wire on the CDI... GPS measured top speed is about 44mph, and it holds 40mph most anywhere. Even does good with a passenger on board (great for those who have that extra someone). Good handling, and it came with a nice trunk.... Ride can be a bit choppy on rough roads, but it can handle the slight off-roading (grassy hillclimbs, mud puddles, gravel roads) that I like to enjoy sometimes. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a peppy, sporty but stable scoot that doesn't cost too much, and is reliable.
ps. i bet it would really wake up with a good pipe... i'm gonna put one on and see

Ireland thanks for the input!! A lot has transpired since I started this post!! You bet you could smarten the beast up with a pipe and rejet. You can also tune the variator to ideal for you. For all out go to a 72cc kit(called an 80 but not) and bigger carb. Then at 70 mph you can pull wheelies!! See 2-stroke thread...we have an international forum and there is a 2-stroke genious there!

Our Yamaha dealer sells both Yamaha and e-Ton scooters. www.freewheelingcycleparts.com This is a brick-n-mortar shop between Buffalo and Niagara Falls. They have an impressive service and repair shop. Super clean like a 5-star car dealer service center.

Good combination of brands for scooters, Yamaha & E-Ton, IMHO about the best from Japan and Taiwan.
