We have only 80 miles on our Commuter 250 but in some of those miles have bottomed out a bit on the highway. We are at the weight limit of the bike at 400 pounds...2 up. Have read in forum about adjusting shock absorbers but looked on bike and seems like they are not adjustable. Any ideas...besides losing a few pounds? Did several searches with no avail. Thanks

I guess you mean that the rear suspension is bottoming out. If your scoot does not have the adjustable shocks you could purchase them from one of the dealers who carries that scoot so equipped.

Thanks rollie, I'm sure that's a very elementary question, but your answer sure makes sense. My "dealer episode" was atrocious so I may just ask around to see about that rear suspension. Thanks again!

The Commuter is a copy of the Honda Helix, so you can look for rear shocks for a Honda Helix. Those ought to do the trick for you.

That would be asuming that there is no coil bind. Probably not a safe assumtion in this case.

Are there aftermarket or performance rear shocks available for scoters? I mean something like Ohlins, Wilber, Works.. rear shocks with not only preload, but damping, rebound, even ride height adjustments..

Probably would have to go through custom shock route to get shocks that have rebound, damping or compression damping adjustment.. while you're at it, might as well get some piggyback oil reservoir for the rear shock, give you even more flexibility in damping adjustments... or if you want to go lightweight, get some ATV air shocks.. they look about the correct shock length for scooters. Sky's the limit.. pimp ma scoot..
