I never cared for the big round 35w headlight that comes on the tank 250 and like types. Never seemed bright enough except to light the inside of a frig.
After removing the front nose I carefull looked at the wireing for it and the 18w 3 prong light from a 150 cc Racer type. The bulbs are a perfect fit into the old large type spot and the connectors are the same. So it is basically plug and play with it. Even with he 18w bulbs, it is already a bit brighter.
I ordered a set of 3 prong H$ 35w ones from partsforscooters and replaced the 18w ones with them. WOW what a difference and little animals now can be seen. Being in a country area, seeing is the best thing. The hard part is getting the wireing harness and the right one.

There are differences in the quality of the same wattage bulbs. Some time ago we discussed this. Some give off a dim, yellowish light. Like you found, some good 18W bulbs are brighter than a poor 35W bulb. I had a set of those large type bulbs on my Bali 250. They were very bright and did a great job after I did a headlight re-aim to get them where they were supposed to shine.
