We had a good day yesterday here in the central Ohio area with temps reaching a semi-nice 53 degrees. Thought I would start the scooter just to air it out a bit and keep it from sleeping "too" much.
I had the battery on a Battery Tender Plus (while in the garage for the past 2 months). Got the battery in and hit the starter button. It took quite a while to get it to get going but afterwards it ran just fine. Once i did get it started I let it idle for about 10 minutes to get the juices flowing.
Is there any reason, other than the cold, for the scot not to crank right over? Also, my garage can get to 30 or lower in the real severe winter temps. If I keep my scoot in the garage do I meed to take my battery out and bring it indoors even if I have it hooked up to my trickle/float charger?
Thanks

Yeah it was even better in SW Ohio at 57 degrees. I even took a little ride. If you have not started it at all for a month or two the carb was probably dry and you had to open the vacuum shut off valve to let some gas run in there. That can take a little while. You should be ok with the battery tender leaving it in the garage. Ours are in the barn with the 5th wheel, tractors and other stuff. I do go out and start all of them up once a week and let them run a while. They all fire right up even when it was once in the teens here.

I agree with Countryscoots about the fuel evaporation on standing. Similar to starting your scoot for the first time out of the crate - can take some cranking. May not even run very smoothly at first, especially if the gas in the tank has not been treated with a fuel stabilizer/conditioner to keep varnish from forming in the carb. These vehicles seem more susceptible to that kind of stuff than our modern, sealed system, fuel injected autos.

Yes like the others stated the fuel in the carb evaporated out and you had to crank it for a while to get fuel past the fuel cutoff valve before it would start.
