I have a cheap solution for anyone looking for a cover for their scoot. I found a tarp at Home Depot for $5 that has pull strings around it. I put it over my scooter and proceded to fit it to my scooter. After about 5 minutes it fit perfect. I have been using it for a few days now and am satisfied with the amount of protection it provides from the sun and dust. I also put an old blanked underneath it to prevent scratching and help with dust (where I live, it is really dusty).
Just a thought. Aero

Nice idea. Harbor Freight Tools has good deals on tarps too. I actually bought a motorcycle cover at Walmart of all places that works really good. They had a few different sizes to choose from too.

I'll second the covers from WalMart. I have had two, different sizes but same style. For $20 they are made well. Same cover sells elsewhere for much more.

i got a large cover from walmart but it was too small because of my trunk either the front or rear wheel was not covered so i exchanged it for an xl and it was huge it really ballooned up in the wind my scoots under there somewhere it has gromets and tie down straps included that really helps i was left with a lot of extra cover in the rear so i tucked it all under the rear wheel and then it fit like a glove

i use a 9' X 12' tarp from wal-mart. i fasten it with bungee cords. the tarp is big enough to cover both my 50cc and 250cc. after covering i chain the front wheels together to prevent roll off thefts.

Trunks and windshields cause a fit problem, changing the dimensions of the scoot, often throwing it into a size category in between cover sizes.

Between my trunk and my windshield, though, it covers the whole thing with no room to spare.

Scootdd, Glad you said something about the Wal - Mart covers not being water/rain resisient was beginning to think the one I bought was a defect. At first I bought mine from an Auto parts store and it was about $35 bucks but the box said it was water proof so I said what the heck. We get LOTS of rain here. The next day I was in Wal - Mart and saw theirs for $20 and I felt foolish that I spent 15 more so I took the 1st cover back got the refund went back to Wal - Mart purshased the cheaper one. ( wished I read the box in store, but didn't ). I asked my hubby how come the first cover's box stated that it was waterproof and this one doesn't ? So we sprayed the cover with my hand under it and my hand was soaked so yes we took it back. We bought the Mossy Creek ATV cover for $30 . It does fit a 150cc with windshield. Moral for me cheaper is not always better. Has bag also.

Actually, you probably don't want a truly water proof cover. You need it to breathe. Otherwise all the inside condensation won't evaporate and you get even more rust and corrosion than if it had gotten a little wet without a cover on it. If it is snowing a lot the covers work fine for keeping the snow and ice off. The covers help keep it clean, less dust getting on it. But mainly it prevents sun and ultraviolet radiation damage on the plastic parts. You basically sacrifice the cover instead of the scooter.

I didn't realize at the time that all the covers weren't waterproof. I have a "scooter book" that I read while waiting for my scoot to arrive in which I learned that some covers are for waterproof and some are made specifficaly for storage for all the purpases that Earwb stated. I had just assumed all were waterproof. But I am still learning alot. But the plastic cover behind my handlebars that covers the wires does not fit my scoot therefore I cant get it wet at all. I dont have a garage just a little pato that doesnt keep rain out. Our complex frowns upon tarps. They dont mind covers. (not my rules, but in my lease ). We dont get any snow here but in " hurricane season " we get rain for weeks. Of course when it gets real bad we will bring it in the house. But mine has to we waterproof.

Go check out Walmart, they have motorcycle covers at good prices. Scooters tend to always be a problem as with a windshield and rear trunk box, they get mighty large fast.

Got our covers (nice) from Shade Tree Powersports last fall. Thye are made just for scooters and are great. They have cinching cord in the bottom and even metal plates for around the muffler in case it is warm. Also have grommets for locks. About $40. Tom

JCWhitney has a great motorcycle cover that`s waterproof for $20. Two sizes- one for windshields and one without. the one fro bikes without windshields cover a retro scooter perfectly-from mirrors to ground.Bottom has a heat shield for the exhaust. Heavy rains here didn`t penetrate at all.

A word of warning to those using dark covered scooter covers. I had a gal in here last year that covered her scoot while it was parked outside at her college in Michigan. The Sun melted and totally disformed the windshield. I think the lighter colors and the reflective silver ones are the best.

Hello, I don't have a garage and my house has steps, which wouldn't be practical to haul the scooter up everytime I'm not using it. Therefore, I have to keep it parked in my parking spot of my townhouse year round. Scooter cover is a must...but what can I expect? Anybody else in the same situation? Can the scooter survive the weather? Don't get me wrong, I can bring it in during the winter season, but it will be out everyday in spring/summer.... scooterherox

Well, I park mine outside all the time, rain or shine, but in Cali it is mostly shine (plus I ride 5-6 day/week). I use the tarp or a wal*mart cover if the dust is blowing really bad, or if it is going to rain. So far the scooter has taken it like a champ, even with an aftermarket airfilter, which supposedly get drenched in the rain (mine never has), but the scooter has started everytime and runs great. Only thing is, one of the several stickers I have on it has started to fade on the "sun" side. Maybe some shade (carport, etc.) is in order this year.

You don't want a waterproof cover, it'll trap so much condensation under it that it would be more dry if left uncovered.
You want a water resistant cover that deflects the lions share of the water and allows the cover to breath so water vapor doesn't get trapped under it.
Btw, plastic coated tarps are a really bad idea, they will abrade the painted surfaces in any wind, can really mess up the bike's finish. Softer is better.
