Does anyone know how to test a stator, I have a no spark/no start concern, and the dealer/place I bought the parts from says it could be the stator, I don't understand how the two are related. I've already replaced CDI, coil w/wire. Have power and ground, no collapse signal the coil. Pickup resistance is 186.3 ohm's within the speck of 168~252, I got that info from swakk's post...........Thanks This is a 257cc engine from Laihi (my spelling is not perfect)

Your stator is the alternator equivalent. THere shouldn't necessarily be a relationship between spark and stator if you have power. I'm assuming your kill switch is in the on position. It actually sounds like a bad kill switch that won't turn on, or a blown fuse.
Anyways this should be in the general post section.

Only I wish No I checked the kill switch, It's not faulty or on, and ohm-ed all the wires to ground to and fro each component , and thanks for the reply Tim

I agree w/ Jacine, I truly doubt that your non-running problem is a result of stator failure. There's no moving parts there and until they get many years old and the wire shield starts getting hard & cracked, not much can go wrong with them.
That said, for my GS850 Suzuki, the test for the stator is to disconnect the wire plug, run the engine and put a voltmeter across any 2 of the 3 wires coming out. There is 60+ volts between any 2 wires and you have to check each leg of the stator. That would be wires 1 to 2, 1 to 3, 2 to 1 and 2 to 3 and 3 to 1 and 3 to 2.
Didn't someone here produce a really comprehensive matrix for troubleshooting engine problems? I wonder what happened to that checklist.

Update, problem solved, I was sent a bad CDI module from my supplier and of course they wouldn't admitt it could be faulty, after being discouraged for a few months I finally got off my keester and ordered a new module and stator, I got the stator against my better judgement I could not believe the two could be related but my supplier insisted it was a possiblity, so anywho, I got the module and plugged it in and she fired right up, after saying a few choice words I finished putting it back together, sorry for the delay in posting back as I've been quite busy in my life, thanks for the support and help, I will continue to monitor the forum. I had three ignition coils go bad on me. But I remember a few others having DOA CDI's right out of the box. Then getting DOA CDI's as replacements too. Anyway, glad you found the problem and fixed it.

the stator is not directly involved in the firing of the coil, but the pickup coil is and most scooters have the pu coil wired into the same harness as the stator. you see the little magnet with the two bolts in it thats why they say"your stator is bad" it will still charge the battery or run the lights if you could just replace the pu coil. you found ur problem. but yes your stator can cause a no spark issue
