For those interested in tuning a Qlink Pegasus 150 I think I've got a couple of good ideas for you. I cut the muffler off at the point where the big part of the muffler is, at the front. After the 1 inch pipe graduates up to meet the larger Muffler. I bought a 3 inch Inside diamater Glasspack from Summit racing. It is 4 inch on the outside and muffler part is 18 inch long. It comes unfinished so you do not have any trouble painting it with High Temp Flat Black Paint. Used a Recirculating saw, with blade for hard steel, to cut with. Cut of all the bolt nuts behind the crome sheild off. Hardest part to cut because the welds are so tough. I went through about 8 - 6 inch blades total. Cut of the pipe ends on the glass pack and welded it to Old muffler brackets and remainder of pipe. Welded a Crome Tip, I got at Auto Zone to the end of muffler after cutting of the 3 inch end piece. Put back on the original crome sheild on the glass pack. Oh by the way the Pegasus has a power robbing catalitic converter in it. Not worried, No Emission checks in Indiana except in a couple of big cities. When finished it looks like the Original muffler with a fancy crome tip. Cool. A freind helped me with the welding because I do not have any Mig welding experiance. I rented the welder from a local Tool rental place for $30. Muffler was 40.90 with shipping. Blades for saw About another $25. Paint $5 Total $100.90. Not bad considering what a new muffler cost. Can not buy an upgrade muffler for the Pegasus150 anyway. Also Installed a Dial-A-Jet before Carb. Much to my surprise, Qlink put a fine Japanese 26mm Mikuni butterfly Carb on the bike. Now here is what I did not expect. I gained 7 Mph top end. ;D ;D Gloat! 77 on the Spedo and my tires are lower for comfortable ride but not low enough to be dangerous. I'm told spedo is optomistic by 3%. That's as fast a most 250cc scoots claim to be. And that was in cold 30 degree weather and windy. Should do a little better on a good day and higher air pressure in tires. ;D
Dial-A-Jet, really did it's job well. And You can acess it through the opening for carb Idle adjustment under the seat. Very surprised at relatively High Performance Improvements. So was my mechanic welder freind. ;D ;D David, P.S Like Steve McQueen, All I need a fast machine, an I'm gona be allright. Wo Hoo Hoo , Cheryl Crow
