Very nice, I was thinking about something along those lines myself too. Saves me some thinking time for sure. What size threaded bolts do they use on the typical GY6 OEM variator bosses? I haven't had the gumption to pull the CVT drive cover off yet to have a look see. I took a look at my Dr Pulley variator and the bosses aren't threaded.
Humm I think it might be wise to cover both possibilities and drill the holes to work for both 1/4" and M6 screws.

There are 2 reinforced holes in the fan that you can use a spanner in for the removal of the nut by building a similar tool, but do not use the fan blades or you run a high risk of breaking them. If you break a blade, you will be shocked at the amount of vibration it can cause. It's really much easier to just buy or borrow an impact and not risk the damage unless you build the spanner to fit in the holes perfectly. Stan

I was just thinking about the same type of tool the other day than I realized it would be easier to turn my compressor on. Maybe I'll make one when it warms up

I went ahead and made one of the metal tools for my scooter. It probably took 30 minutes to fabricate the tool. I did find out that the Dr Pulley variator I have uses a 5mm screw and not 6mm. But I suppose one could use a 6mm bottoming tap and thread the 5mm holes if they wanted too. I made the tool 14 inches long as that is the maximum length I can have, to put something in the under the seat storage tub. It just so happens a 1/2" breaker bar wrench is 14 inches long too. It the belt breaks on me out on the road, and I cannot get the variator nut loose using that stuff I guess I am SOL. I did get 5mm, 6mm and 1/4 inch bolts to use on the tool, just in case.
