I am going to start modifing my scooter {150cc GY6} and I would really like to buy my parts from vendors that support this board. I am planning on a big valve head,cam,bigger bore piston,jug,and a carb. Who on this board is a vendor and can give me guidiance in what direction to go ? The only items I have purchased so far are a CDI box and a new spare motor{in case these GY6 motors don't take kindly to the mods.}

Wow! A spare motor? You don't mess around. Stan from www.oregonvintage.com is a member here and an all 'round good guy. He carries the head, cam, pipe, carb, air filter, jets, CVT parts....... His site also has some informative articles.

Thanks for the link! I couldn't pass the motor up it's brand new in the crate minus the carb. It has the chrome side cover and had to have the bling.

I have seriously considered a spare motor myself. They aren't all that badly priced either. I dont think I have gotten much past Oregon Vintage myself either yet.

I was really surprised at how cheap I got it for{E~Bay} It came complete minus the carb. and I figured it would be nice to have it if for nothing else than spare parts starter,charging system,etc.

Randy, I haven't been able to find any complete GY6 motors on eBay. What should my search terms be?
Thanks, -Mike

you could try gy6 and also 150cc engine. beware that not all 150cc gy6 are the same. most of the gy6 engines for ATV use a chain final drive, and there are 2 sizes of 150cc gy6, one that is longer that is used on scoots with 13" rear wheels and the other shorter that used on scoots 10-12" rear wheels

I do parts and accessories and gy6 in the search box. The motor came from www.bargainjims.com they were running back to back auctions on a new GY6. I got lucky and mine closed on Christmas morning and not too many bids. I was going to buy a chrome side cover and this motor already had on on it and the price made it a no brainer.

Nothing out there right now, I guess and bargainjims site is screwed up. Just wanted to get some pricing info... Looking at buying a used 50cc 4-stroke and doing a "little" 150cc mod to it.

Well I purchase all of my parts from www.indycycleranch.com They carry mostly 2 stroke stuff,but they can get just about anything.And the prices are the best I have found yet.They are a small family run company,so you get that personal service that most major corps cant do.Check them out if you need 2 stroke perfomance stuff.I prefer the MRP stuff cause they are always on top of the new stuff that comes out.
