Many people are looking for inexpensive mods for your scooters. Most scooters can use additional lighting so cars have a better chance of seeing you. A $12 mod can make your turn signals light up as running lights, and then get brighter and blink when the turn signals are on. They sell motorcycyle products to do this, but the price is usually over $50. My cheap solution was to go to a discount auto parts store and buy a Trailer light converter module. This module is designed to take american wired vehicles...with separate bulbs for brake, turn and running lights and make them work with a trailer that has a single dual filament bulb on each side. The module has diodes that prevent the signal from feeding back through the cirucuit and lighting up the wrong light. Depending on how fancy you get you can make front are rear turn signals into aux running lights and be done, or if you get real fancy you can make the rear turn signals into aux running lights, aux brake lights, and turn signals. To do the aux brake lights you need to have dual filament turnsignals. You can often just switch the bulb holder from single filament to dual with parts from your auto parts store. Many states will require the rear turn signals to be red if they also function as brake lights. You can do this a few ways. If you have LED's, you can just buy the red led bulbs. You can also buy red bulbs for the standard incandecent bulbs, but you loose some brightness unless you find clear turn signal lenses. I found red glass jewels with metal holders that install by drilling a hole in the stock lens. With the red glass jewel in the yellow lens, the turn signals have a nice orange/red glow, and I haven't had any problems with police.
It is a pretty easy $12 modification that improves the safety of your scooter.
Have fun,
Dave
