I've been searching and searching for an appropriately sized carb with an accelerator pump for my scooter for months now and today figured I would, again, look to see what the GY6 buggy guys were doing to hop up their motors.
I came across this:
www.awesomebuggy.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=606
And I thought, Wow! This is great! I'll have to tell Stan about this, maybe he'd be interested in carrying it!
At the same time I was wondering why, if this carb was available, would MRP and the like be selling a 30mm CV carb without an accelerator pump and how is it that people are happy with it? Doesn't it provide the same lacklustre throttle response as the stock carb?
So I got looking closely at the pictures at www.oregonvintage.com and realized the carb from MRP does have an accelerator pump! I can't believe that in all the stuff I've read there wasn't any mention of this, no one attributed the performance increase of this carb to it's pump. I even read Stan's TT150 fitment information but again no mention, but really, I guess I can appreciate that most people don't care about those kinds of details.
Anyway, I feel like a spaz for either missing that info somewhere or not putting 2 and 2 together on my own.
I'm going to continue the search for a non CV carb with an accelerator pump but it's good to know this 30mm carb is available.
On another performance note, check out the performance pipe listed on the right hand side next to the carb pic. Now that's a pipe! Cool installation video they've supplied, too.
I'm not a pipe designer but I really think these engines need more header pipe length than the traditional aftermarket scooter pipes supply. I've seen some advertised in Europe that are like having a pretzel underneath the engine and would love to get my hands on one.
