Hi all;
For some reason I have more trouble remembering to cancel the turn signal on the 250 scoot than I did on my others. Had read some threads about installing beepers - some simple, some complicated. A few weeks ago Stan Jessup of Oregon Vintage indicated he was going to stock one type. When it became available, I ordered it and installed it tonight. I like the product!
You must remove the body panel on your scoot that allows access to the turn signal wires - different for each style scoot. Installation was pretty simple - a ground wire placed under a bolt or nut and two other wires that are connected (by piggyback connectors) - one each - to the left and right turn signal feeds. I used a multi-meter to determine which of the three wires going to each bulb socket was the proper one. I removed the bulb, turned the key on, activated the blinker while probing the two contacts in the bottom of the socket. The green wire connects to the side of the socket and is the ground - ignore that one. The one you want will be one of the other two that go to the contacts in the bottom of the socket. All this assumes that you have three wires going to your turn signal socket. You could also make the connections on the wires as they come out of the turn signal clicker. On my scoot there was an unused place to mount the beeper module using the vinyl/rubber band around the module. Check the operation before closing up.
I found the decibel level to be just right for me - not too loud or annoying but loud enough to be heard over the engine and traffic. This is a great courtesy/safety addition to our scoots. It's annoying and dangerous when a vehicle travels for a long distance with the operator oblivious to the turn signal blinking away. Below is a link to the beeper, found about half way down the page - just under the electrical switches:
