I am an outboard techician and have used a very simlar method for all the new and rebuilt motors I sent out. I used it on my scooter also but I dont have anything to compair it to. As far as four stroke eninges (outboard) if they are broken in "easy" they seem to have a problem with un burnt fuel getting by the rings and into the oil. I would think that a four stroke scooter would be the same way.

Monique, I just put an upsize kit on my scoot at approx 2300Km. I used the Motoman breakin and had no blowby whatsoever. The sides of my piston were as clean as the new one I installed. I ran mine pretty hard, around 8400Rpm for 5-6 miles at a time. I think this method works and I'm usng it on the new build.

I have torn down two engines after breaking them in hard. In both instances all internals appeared like brand new. Just ride it the way you would after break-in and you will be fine.

I'm sure hubby is an idiot, as most hubbies are. But, in this case, he's right! ;D

Yup.. I suggest hard break inn. 40% throttle for about two miles.. coast home and;, Kill and let cool for 15 minutes. Again, 60% throttle, about two miles.. coast home and;, kill and let cool for 15 minutes. Again, 100 % throttle, about two miles.. coast home and;, kill and let cool.. Then replace oils, front and back.
I have a new scooter.. and seems to be working fine.. yes still new.. when I rebuild it, will post as to the insides look like.. Enjoy..
Hope it helps Jose'
