Monique is your battery bone dry(as shipped) or just low? If it's as shipped they should have included a seperate container of acid. If not you need to fill with acid. If you filled it and it's a little low you can top with distilled water. Acid would be better! Auto parts store shoul have acid. Be carefull with your eyes, skin and clothes!!!!

Monique I don't think you actually need it to the top just covering the plates inside. There should be 2 lines on the side of the battery and the fluid level should be between them.(Assuming that you have a white battery and can see the fluid level!) Good luck!

I believe ACD is right as long as the cells are covered things should be good.
Having lived in hot climates all my life I've had a lot of times when the electrolyte would be low in my batteries and adding some distilled water was the way we have always handled that problem.

I say if your battery works fine (you're lucky) then leave it alone. If it doesn't work fine, water isn't going to help it. Better start scoping out a new one. Chinese batteries are junk.

A battery can be working fine and be low on electrolyte. A motor can be running fine and be low on oil. Would you knowingly run your motor until it stopped without putting oil in???
If you want the battery to work as well as it can even cheap chinese ones need something covering the cells, a gallon of distilled water is pretty cheap.
I agree with Ryan on the next post, I have also used tap water, but I have been places where the tap water has other minerals in it the would be bad for a battery, those places are few and far between.

If your battery is very low adding water will drop voltage and may need a slight charge; also just plain tap water will work fine I work with plenty of batteries in my job

My battery arrived un-assembled.. dropped the acid in and some distilled H2O to level it off, allowed to sit for 30 minutes along with tilting it side to side to allow the bubbles to come out. Hooked to a 17 doller batter charger and off I went.
Works okay.. 1 month +..
Hope this helps.. understanding what others are doing to the same question.
