Ok, this may seem silly, but when the Dawg goes to ride with his scooter buddies, he can't afford for the scooter to look like slop. Unlike my car, which is a trash can full of Taco Bell garbage, my scooters remain fairly well detailed. Sometimes, when it's time to ride, I notice some dirt and grime. A fast wash which isn't perfect but leaves the scoot with a nice appearance is a product I ran across called Westley's Clear Magic. Just spray it on, let it sit for a few seconds and rinse it off. I just used it about five minutes ago and that big bird turd simply vanished!

Well, Rick, I hope you were kidding. I only wish I had been paid to say that.

I usually just use a little windex and paper towells on the upper plastic, underside where the real grime gets, I use "fast orange" stuff because it has degreaser and it leaves the bottom of my engine smelling oh so sweet!

stevie37; Welcome to the forum! Let us know what type of scooter you have. Also, please don't post all in caps, it is interpreted by many as yelling and is more difficult to read.
I think I posted my recommendation before but here goes again. I bought some Eagle 1 Nano wax in a pump spray. It goes on clear, cleans and waxes at the same time. Don't even have to wash if the scoot is only lightly dirty. Seems to work OK on the plastic windshield.

Anyone ever try Meguairs Quick detailer? It's one of those spray, wipe, buff off the haze products. I use it regularly on my scoot and have had good experiences. Just watch out for bees. Yes, I said bees. Last summer I was using it on my car and was throwing the dirty towels on the ground and the bees were all over them. It must be the sweet smell that the stuff has!!!

Scootertrash, I have used the Meguairs on my scoot since May. It really seems to melt the road the road grime and seems to last. Even takes off the bug poop that has been falling out of the maple trees. And I agree with you about the bees. On a side note: For those of us who wear helmets. Has anyone used RainX on face shields?

I think most of the quick detail spray waxes are great to clean up the scoot! Interesting idea about Rain-X on the windscreen. I have been using my detail spray there also. Seems to do a good job. Mothers makes a good product for plastic that is great for cleaning and polishing w.o scratching.

TWO SCOOTERTRASHES ROCK ON!!!!! NICE NAME BRO!!
Ok something i can comment on that i know I was a painter in a bodyshop befor i started painting planes.
The spray on wax you speak of IS NOT A WAX AT ALL. It is for detailing. The stuff i used at the bodyshop is Wizards Mist-N-Shine. After the car was painted wet sanded and buffed. I would spray the car down with it and all the compound would come right off and it would make the paint really glossy and slick to the touch. If the car was a dark colored car it would have no swirl marks at all. I have even put this stuff on in the sun on a hot car and it wasn't even a problem.
But it should not replace a good wax of your choice. It should be use in between waxes NOT as a wax. Lots of other things that it can be used on also.
THIS IS STRAIGHT FROM THEIR WEBSITE IN THE Q&A AREA
MIST-N-SHINE™ PROFESSIONAL DETAILER
MIST-N-SHINE Professional Detailer is WIZARDS’ best selling product. This highly regarded detailer is fast, fun and easy to use on all types of paint, glass, chrome or any hard surface. It’s so easy to use; just spray it on and wipe it off. It adds a show winning gloss and slickness to almost any type of paint.
You can use MIST-N-SHINE regularly to “quick dust” and give your vehicle that just waxed slippery feel and “wet look”, without scratching, streaking or smearing.
Because it contains no wax or abrasives it will never leave a telltale sign or white residue around emblems or moldings. That’s one reason why street rodders and bikers really love the product.
Q: If the MIST-N-SHINE does all that, why would I want to use the SHINE MASTER?
A: Even though the MIST-N-SHINE is great and will do a lot, you still want to use the SHINE MASTER for its cleaning, polishing and protective qualities. It is recommended to use the polish occasionally for extended durability and protection.
Remember; if your paint is rough or faded the MIST-N-SHINE isn’t going to do much unless you make it smooth first.
Q: So you’re saying that the MIST-N-SHINE doesn’t have any protective qualities?
A: It wasn’t designed for protection; however, you can expect it to make it through a couple washes. A good example is using it on your windshield. It’s so slick, the rain rolls right off the glass.
Q: I know it works great for removing dust, what else will it take off?
A: MIST-N-SHINE will safely remove dust, bugs, mild road grime, fingerprints and even some light water spotting. It’s an anti-static gloss enhancer and is great for spot washing, or to use as a waterless wash.
Q: You mean I can use this instead of washing my car?
A: You’ll be amazed at how much it can do, but if your vehicle is extremely dirty or muddy you should always wash it first. MIST-N-SHINE will work great for dust and road grime. And it really works well in between wash jobs, or right after washing to give it that just polished look.
Q: You mentioned that it can be used on any hard surface; is there anything that I shouldn’t use it on?
A: This special formula is safe for all types of paint, clear coat, metals, glass, plastic and rubber trim. You can use it to dust off most anything; however, it may not shine on things like your dash, seats or tires. Obviously, you shouldn’t get it on your cloth seats or carpeting. It’s just not designed for that.
Q: I’ve heard that a lot of body shops use the MIST-N-SHINE. Why is that?
A: It’s fast, it’s easy to use and it works. Literally thousands of shops use it as a finishing step after buffing, and before the vehicle is delivered. The product contains no wax, petroleum solvents or silicone, and is not only used, but also recommended by some of the top restoration experts in the country.
Before delivery, the MIST-N-SHINE can really be a time saver. Many times a shop will have a vehicle ready for customer pickup; and if that pickup time is delayed, the car can get full of dust from sitting around the shop. In a case like that the car can be wiped down in just a couple minutes and the customer is really happy.
That’s also a great time to demonstrate the MIST-N-SHINE to the customer, and sell them a bottle, so they can maintain their finish and keep your work looking good.

scootertrash; Good point about the difference between detailers and waxes. I guess I am in error for describing what I use as a detailer. Actually, I use Rain-X Fast Wax and the new Eagle 1 Nano (carnuba) Wax. They clean as well as shine.

Just a quick chime-in on this clean-up thread. the Rain-X is amazing on the windshield and face shield. Rain just runs off without limiting your view to any extent. Just be SURE to polish the haze off with a VERY soft cloth on the windshield surface. Otherwise it is scratch-city and then you will need "Scratch-Out" by Kit. Another wonderful product that I have used for years. Even got a lot of the scratches out of the original plastic back window of our 90' Miata. And although the MeGuires is great wax, I was blown away by the gloss and slickness of the "Liquid Glass" product. Talk about a WOW shine. (Well, have to check my mailbox now for the product endorsement checks !) scooterdog

When it comes to paint. This is my area. Before i got into painting i was a wash and detail bitch. So i have used about all of the stuff that has been out there. Reps would come in and just give me stuff to try as a detailer and as painter. Kinda like how they give dawg scoots to to play with. BTW WHere do i sign up for that job? ? Also i am with scooterdog on the rain-x. I have put it on every car I've owned. That is the first thing i do. Most of the time i don't even have to use the wipers when driving.

One other quick comment concerning appearance. Even though the Tank 250 lacks the fit and finish of some of the upper-end (read:expensive) scooters, all in all it is not a bad looking ride. But those brass brown antique finish exterior screws really make it look cheap! So...off to Home Depot and got a large bag of stainless steel panhead screws and am replacing all the ones you can see on the outside. May be silly but it sure does give the impression of a better built scoot with them in place. (IMHO). And after a quick wipe down with the Armor All liquid clean and shine, it glows like a new penny! scooterdog

If you have moved your pics around in your photobucket or put them in a different category, you need to copy the new IMG codes.
