Hey guys, I have a 50cc 4-stroke Chinese scooter and I recently added a highflow air intake, aftermarket exhaust and an unrestricted CDI along with a few other small changes. I have it all back together now and my acceleration seems a little better but my top speed is lacking. maybe even slower than stock. After installing intake it bogged down and died with throttle so i was getting far too much air. I upjetted the carb to a 95, ( i believe the stock was 85). To my understanding this isnt that much of a jump when i added exhaust and air intake. However, when i adjust the fuel screw all the way in my scooter does not die which means i'm running really rich, correct? just wondering if maybe i should go back to the 85 jet. Thanks, -Alec

The performance exhaust without a big bore kit makes your scooter slower, not enough power to provide enough back pressure. Air and exhaust upgrades bottleneck a scooter with a stock 39mm piston "49.5" cc.

Ya i think in the near future i will be installing a BBK but in the mean time, changing the carb jet back to the 85 wont help at all?

so if leave everything how it is now; 95 jet, k&N filter, perf exhaust. but i install a 100cc or 88cc bbl would it be better? also, i have lighter variator weights and was planning on doing some other cvt mods such as clutch springs and upgrading the drive belt but i cant get the variator nut off.

Do the bbk often cheaper than the exhaust and has better results

I agree I would run the stock intake with your setup and an 82 or 85 main jet. I used to run an 85 on my secret 63cc with just a modified intake snorkel and muffler. 95 is a ton of fuel. I'm only running like a 91 or something even with an 83cc BBK.
