I replaced the battery and then put a new starter on the 250, the start button doesn't work but the remote start works. The starter sound like it just spins. It doesn't turn the motor over. When I took the old starter apart it was full of oil. The seal was bad. Am I doing something wrong on the starter replacement . Starter turns but doesn't turn engine over. HELP

Check that the starter gear is actually kicking out when the starter spins. You'll have to rig a way to apply 12 volts when the starter is out. If it is actually throwing out the gear starter clutch could be an issue.
PS the one stupid reply was an attempt to "bump" it to the top because it was over looked and she didn't have an answer but wanted someone to see it...

People this is a 250 motor it does not have a BENDIX like your 50s, it has a STARTER CLUTCH inside the motor. To get at it you have to take the Cover off on the right side of the motor. Behind the cover you will find the STATOR and the FLYWHEEL the STARTER CLUTCH is attached to the back of the FLYWHEEL.
If the starter is not spinning fast enough BUT SPINNING get a volt meter and check the voltage on your battery. If your battery is weak below 12.5 it will not turn your starter over fast enough.
Did you ever take the Cover off to check the stator or anything on the other SIDE???
Does it make any metal like chain noise when cranking it over? Lefty
