Okay, my friend has a Diamo Aero 50cc 2-stroke scooter (9600 miles on it) that had a badly worn CVT belt. It was slipping and had very low top speed. His daughter brought the scooter down and other than the belt problem it ran and started well. I changed the belt with a new one of the exact size. The old one came off easily but the new one is super tight!
Anyhow, I buttoned it all back up and now it won’t start. I replaced the original plug (it was ugly) with a brand new NGK (same number). It still won’t start. I checked the spark (nice and blue), it turns over nicely, and has decent compression. I also drained the fuel tank, carb bowl, and refilled it with fresh gas. I also put fresh oil in the tank. I pulled off the dirty air filter and tried starting it again. No success. Against my better judgment (I hate ether), I opened the throttle all the way, gave it a shot of starting fluid, and tried again. STILL NO START! It seemed to try for a bit but now it just turns over.
The belt is not binding because the motor turns over so well although the kick start does bind. Any ideas? I cannot find any info on this scooter online and I already have $50 invested in it as well as all my time. This guy is starting to think I ruined his scooter. PLEASE - any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Email me direct at thekitkos@gmail.com or even call me at four eight oh, 267, eight five one two.
By the way, I did check all the ground wires, etc. and the fuse by the battery.
THANKS FOR ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS!!!!!

Since it was running when it was brought to you and all you changed was the belt. Take the belt and Variator off and try to start it. Otherwise go back and check what you touched after or before you changed the belt. Did it happen to get wet or fall over etc.. Lefty
