Looks like the long promised 400 to replace the 260-300 series

With dual overhead cam's and fuel injection they list the horsepower as better than the linhai 300. I wonder if yamaha will use this engine.

Sunright has been talking about bringing this scooter in for 2 years now. Last time I talked to Ronald I think he said it would not come this year. I have been told that Linhai is suppose to merge with Sunright this year, here in the US and have true factory support. If this happens then hopefully we will see this scooter as well as some new 700cc ATV/UTV products.

Unless it's a clone of an existing motor, I'd be a little careful with these motors. I know china makes higher cc motors based on suzuki (mainly 4stroke, 2 or 4 cylinders, for ATV's and go-karts of upto 6 people), and those engines seem to do the job, despite cooling issues. But if it's just a BBK on an existing engine, or the chinese upf#cked version of the 260, I'd be wary... They may come with bugs... I don't know.. When Western countries make a complete model, they have bugs to work out. I don't expect the chinese to develop something completely new, that would work fine from the beginning.
Then again, it's a linhai, so they're not your average chinese company. Probably backed by yamaha engineers.

It is not a BBK for the 260. It is a different engine. I have seen it in their 400 ATV and UTV, just not in the fuel injected form.

It'll most likely be very highway worthy. I would think that if this kind of bike uses a CVT belt, that the belt would suffer a lot with that powerful engine. On my BMS260, the engine was pretty powerful, and vibrated A LOT! The variator literally shredded the belt down to a few fibres within 2k miles! Let's hope they have stuffed the bike with manual gears, or at least a Kevlar belt!

Needs a lower price.
It looks nice and I am sure it is well built, but I got my Kymco 300cc for less with some haggling with the dealer. Mine is less displacement than this Linhai, but 25% more power, a lighter bike, slightly larger wheels and a two year warranty.
$4000 would probably be a winner. Especially since their 300 could be had for $2500. Near double the price of that one seems like biting off a little too much even though it is probably a nice ride. But $5k is steep, with lots of choices in the price range.

If it has fuel injection, the 260 EFI can be had for $3000, haven't found it priced lower on the net anywhere.
It's priced just right. Perhaps too much for you, but look around! Vespa, Suzuki Burgman, Honda Silverwing, ... they're all more expensive, and almost double the price of that!

I think you are missing my point. Linhai's niche was the the best of Chinese quality at bargain prices, but not quite the quality or power compared to the likes of Sym, Kymco, Piaggio, etc.
This bike does not provide the comparable engine, the quality MIGHT be as good but is probably a notch below those brands, but a suggested sticker of $5000 is right in the Sym, Kymco, Piaggio playground. There are too many choices in that price range that will run away from a 22hp 400 pound bike to justify that cost IMHO. And far too many used Burgman's and Silverwings close to that price to sell very many.
Linhai can do anything they want, but hoping you will get repeat customers at double the price, or attracting new buyers who may have never heard of you at same price of bigger "names" in the scooter games will be a tough sell. Yes they can call it a 400, it is still a 350, and not a particualrly powerfull 350 at that.
This Linhai 350 claims 22.8 hp, The Piaggio 350 is 32.8, a full 10hp more, and the smaller Kymco 300 is 29.8hp. My bike had a sticker of $5500 but the dealer knocked it down to $4600. Why would I pay $5000 for the less powerful Chinese Linhai (especially if it were going to be drop shipped and not prepped like mine was) , and if I could not haggle with a Piaggio dealer, why would I not pony up an extra 10% for 30% more horsepower for the BV 350?
I suspect when Linhai offers them for sale they will see the same thing and the price will be well below $5k. ALthough I do have to say, it is a very nice looking evolution of their former bikes.

The Linhai 300 scooter that you can buy for $2500 is a new 2008 model. The 2011's are $500 more. I don't think the HP claim came is correct. The same engine in their ATV with a carb has 28 HP. I can't imagine that adding fuel injection makes it loose HP.

What takes HP is hydraulic valves. I yet have to see claims that Linhai makes worse bikes than Korean style bikes. I mean Linhais are good, probably the best chinese bikes. I would not know how they compare to Korean models.

Maybe (like the other "big three" Chinese scooter manufacturers) this is the point where they break away from their "inexpensive" past products to take their game to the next level.

Sorry guys....Jwalz1 is spot-on! Why in gods name would anyone purchase a Linhai 352cc that has less ponies then the Kymco Downtown 300i? 25% more HP & lighter in Kymco's favor. So...It's a little less in price. Big deal! We all undertstand that most Kymco's blows-away any & all Chinese built scooters correct? Offers a "real" 2-year warranty with dealer & parts support!
Do I think the Chinese are getting better? Sure do...Look @ Bintelli scooters. But that's for 50cc-150cc carb scooters. If Linhai offered that scoot @ maybe $3000, then maybe & that's a HUGE maybe!
