I rode my scooter to work one day it was supposed to rain(because I don't have a car, and I couldn't get a ride) and it started fine when I left work after it got rained on, but on the way home, all the water on the street was free to get all over the engine because the previous owner took the finders off, and I parked it in my garage and skated to a friends to hangout. But when I needed to go to work the next day, it wouldn't start.. I turn the key and the speedo lights turn on, but when I pull the rear break to start it, the speedo lights shut off.. And it acts like it has a dead battery, but the battery is brand new.. This has really pissed me off due to my scooter bing my only ride to school and work. If anyone knows what the problem is, please help me!

Something's obviously shorted out and made a circuit that's drained the battery. Probably around that starting circuit on the break lever. My first suggestion would be to open up any and all plastics and get the water out. Dry everything and see if the break still cuts out the electrics. Does it start on the kicker at all?
Once it's dried out and working, having replaced any an all broken parts, get some waterproofing spray: duck oil, GT85, anti-corrosion, and spray every single electrical connection on the bike.

and the short probably is in the brake light circuit Of couse, it could be a bad battery connection. (new battery may not have been connected with clean terminals.
It will test your patience, but my guess you can afford to learn more than a little.

If you dry it out and it still doesn't work, try CDI. Rain got mine twice. Then spray all of your electrical connections with Corrosionx to make them virtually waterproof.

That's the one I was thinking of! I knew there was one with "corrosion" in the name! Lol

Yeah it's great stuff. But be careful because as you spray it, whatever else it gets on like the body, it becomes a dirt magnet. Some prefer the brush-on version because of that. It is amazing stuff, though.

Did you try jumping or charging the battery? It could be that simple. If you use a car to jump it ensure the car is off...
