Hello all!
I just recently purchased (recent being this week) a 2009 Sym Fiddle II 125 cc. It has never been owned, so I guess that makes it a "new" machine, but obviously not new because it has been sitting in a dealer's lot since 2009.
Anyway, so we found out the emergency kick start doesn't work and have also noticed the speedometer is 10 or so mph off. My husband noticed this when passing a speed check machine on his way some place this evening. He said the speedometer said 42-ish mph and the speed check said he was only going 33 mph.
We plan to take it back to the dealer since we literally just purchased the scooter and hope beyond hope there is something they might be able to do for us.
Is there anything they can do for us? If not, what can and should we do?
Thanks in advance!!

The speedos are always optimistic on these scoots. That's just how it is. But, take it back and get the kick starter fixed.

The speedos they cannot do anything about they are all pretty far off unless the scoot has 13" wheels then the speed it shows is pretty accurate. And as you go faster they are even further off, so expect anywhere from 10-30% off on the speedo. A lot of folks buy bicycle speedos which are calibrated by the diameter of the wheel. But the kick start should be fixed by the dealer that is for EMERGENCY use in case something happens to your Electric start. The Kick starts are pretty flimsy to say the least and break rather easily if used improperly and or to much. Lefty

Thanks guys! I'm glad I asked.
Of course now I feel like a weeny. Yesterday I finally accomplished what I thought was 30mph around my neighborhood, just to find out I might not have been at all! I've got some work to do, I see!
