seems like my scooter is trying to be like my harley with things vibrating off or cracking cracking from vibration. Mirror came loose, all but 2 belt cover bolts fell out, exhaust manifold studs fell out ( noise level got closer to the sound of harley drag pipes a bit... ) now this. Took some head scratchin to figure out that it wouldn't start because the fixed timing wasn't so fixed as it sort of spun with the crankshaft. Attachments:

You gotta fix what is out of balance or this is just going to continue. On my previous bike the variator had become grooved causing initial vibration that fractured the clutch weights putting it out of balance damaging the input shaft bearing on the gearbox, making the muffler and rear fender fall off. Had to replace the variator, clutch and drive belt after first replacing the bearings and seals in the gearbox. After the root cause of the vibration was taken care of then mufflers no longer failed and the rear fender, bolts, etc no longer fell off.

I may have a similar variator/clutch problem, I noticed a slight harmonic vibration at 45-50 mph. Hummm...Hummm...Hummm... 1/2 second or so apart, no noise, just vibration. I was thinking it was just the China tires. I never noticed it before I started going the 40 miles to and from work mostly at or near WOT at 45-50 mph while my car was down with a timing chain that wore out and jumped 3 teeth leading to bent intake valves and 2 broke pistons. That was probably pushing It a bit much... ( nice not to have to change 2 plugs and add a quart of oil every 2 days due to stuck oil control rings now.) The variator, clutch and belt were all fine the last time I checked 4 or 5 hundred miles back when I checked it just to make sure the belt was still good. (used scooter, previous owner wasn't mechanically inclined or able to get someone who was to maintain it.) Always fun sorting out others work, bad solder connection on hi/lo beam switch hot lead resulted in hot wire from mag spliced straight to lo beam. Scratched head a few times over no power to either hi or lo beam at switch but the light's on... That was a simple soldering fix. I'll check the variator/clutch again, Might as well pull the two remaining cover bolts and check it before replacing the missing bolts. I plan on upgrading to a 115mm performance variator for a little more mph and replacing clutch and belt if needed after I get all the current problems sorted out. While I got the plastics off I wiggled the rear wheel and noticed the center section of one of the motor mounts moved over 1/2 inch. I hadn't noticed any handling problems other than`one time I gave someone a lift at the ROT rally. Having someone on the back that's had a few and is leaning every which way makes for interesting weaving all over the road... New mounts ordered, Seems dangerous with that much play even if it handles ok....
