Ok, so I haven't even been able to get to the valve cover yet. It seems like I'm going to have to take half the scooter apart to get to it. I made a Youtube video showing what I'm talking about. If anyone has advice on how to get to the valve cover without removing half the scooter I would love to hear it.

Welcome to the world of spending half a day getting all the stuff out of the way to do a 30 minute job. You're on the right track and it's a problem most share.

I can see the valve cover through that square opening that holds the seat in front. That is plenty of room to reach in there and take the 4 bolts off the valve cover. All you need is a small socket set which is what I use. Lefty

It definitely looks like you can unbolt it the way it is and either slide it up and out or push it out through the bottom.
