Hi everyone, Kinda new to the scoot community..... I have a 150cc SSR Gensen Clone with about 1,000miles on it. I'm thinking of upgrading the intake & exhaust on it for a bit more "umph" off the line at stops. But my question is, besides having to re-jet the carb, are there any parts/components that need upgrading and/or adjusting? thanks, -J

Hi Welcome aboard Pleased to meet you Those are IMHO unnecessary on a stock engine, you would only need to upgrade those if you went with a BBK and upped the displacement of the engine For quicker acceleration off the line you would be better suited to fine tune your cvt Lighter roller weights with stronger torque and clutch springs will help get you more low end acceleration Take care and ride safely Yours Hank

Hi Hank, pleased to meet you as well. thanks for the input. You're not the first to say that i should even upgrade those components. So i guess i won't. But i will definitely do some research on the things you mentioned instead! Are there any other upgrades, besides performance, that you would recommend for an off brand scooter like mine?

Make sure your tire pressure is right (35PSI) Perhaps upjet (get bigger size jets) Someone posted recently a vid of nylon sliders instead of rollers. They seem to cause better takeoff.

Generally, you cannot get power without fuel. Generally a little black smoke is a hint you are getting enough fuel. Too much will quickly fowl the plug and that of course really cuts the power. I know it does not make sence to you, but a nice fat rich mixture is a lot cooler running than even slightly lean. It isd the lean mixture that steals pwen and burns holes in pistons.
Typically these engines are too lean to run will. Epa rules cases that. So a little increase in the stock main jet typically helps these engines a lot. Typically, leave the idle jet alone.
better yet, bet fuel injection
Cheers

Adding Fuel injection cost some bucks and a pita to get them working good. You will also need an Electric fuel pump and not as easy to install as they make it out to be. One dude on Prof forum installed one and had a lot of problems but finally got it up and running after a lot of trial and error and a new ECU. Lefty
