I'm looking to install a top case/back rest. I know most people will suggest a brand name case like GIVI (which is fine) but I'm wondering can any universal top case be installed or does it have to be bike compatible? And are there any video links or forums that give detailed instructions on how to install these trunks? Thanks in advance guys/gals! Attachments:

The Givi get reccomended because they are a known commodity and have a good reputation. Many of the knockoffs are made of brittle plastics and use flimsy thin sheet metal catches that don't hold up very well. I have had both Givi and the non-name and the difference is like night and day. The Givi I now have stays dry no matter what and never pops open on its own. It is removable using the key and lock that opens it so you can use it like luggage. The no-name case that came with my previous bike would open on its own from going over a bump, leaked constantly no matter how I tried to weather strip it. To remove it you needed to remove a series of nuts and bolts going through metal bars that would clamp the bikes luggage rack between them. Givi, Saddleman and CooCase are the better cases that I am aware of: CooCase for example: www.coocase.com/showcase/topracks.html
