Hi all. I have a Chuanl Prodigy 150. It recently failed to start due to no spark.
I tested the ignition coil/cable and that revealed the secondary coil to be dead, so a new one is on it's way. I wanted to order a new CDI as well, but after pulling it apart, I found that it doesn't look like any CDI on the market. Mine has all six wires going in it and is covered in fins, and is shaped like a pentagon. It doesn't have the round connectors that most CDIs do. One six pin connector and all the pins are flat, aligned horizontally.
Has anyone seen this kind of CDI before? I also couldn't find the rectifier/regulator (It's not in the nose, not in the floorpan, not next to the CDI, not under the seat bucket, trust me I checked EVERYWHERE). Do ALL scoots have one of those? Maybe they saved some cash and had one box pull double duty. IDK. I ask because in case the CDI has gone out too, what can I do about replacing it?

Well what you just described sounds like your looking at the Regular/Rectifier NOT THE CDI. Look above FAN on the right side they sometimes mount them on one of the FRAMES Also if you trace the wires from the coil it will LEAD YOU to the CDI. Sam

I also couldn't find the rectifier/regulator Your description sounds like the rectifier/regulator. Look for the CDI in the tail-light compartment. Might be able to see it by aiming a flashlight rearward next to the gas tank.

Well what do we have here...
I looked in the tail just now and indeed I do have a standard CDI. Why they'd put it THERE I'll never know but oh well. Thanks everyone!

Good, you can move the CDI anywhere you want to make it easy to get to. Sam

I moved my cdi to the glove box . I never removed the old cdi . I also changed from 5pin regulator to seven and relocated it to the nose . Great scooter if you have any questions feel free to call.
