I just bought a 300cc linhai. I went over the local bridge a few hours ago and my ex boyfriend drove in front of me so I wouldn't be super nervous---he said he was going 60mph but my speedometer was saying 65. is this a common thing?
also would a longer windshield help the wind go over my helmet? I don't feel any air going over me just straight on my face and pushing my helmet up.
thanks

Hi Pleased to meet you You are correct on both counts Speedometers can be off by quite a bit, though in certain cases you can get lucky and get one thats spot on And a taller windscreen can help move the wind up and over your head and not into your face and helmet Take care and ride safely Yours Hank

Hank,
Have you got any tips for fitting a windshield if one doesn't come stock? I did my first long/fast run out today and it felt like the wind was trying to rip my helmet off at times, and didn't care if my head was still in it or not! Lol
I think I've been quite lucky with my speedo: I tested it on a "30mph slow down" speed operated sign today, and my scoot was only reading 32-33mph when it went off.
Thanks, Ian.

Hi Ian This focuses on wind shields for motorcycle but the principles can be applied to all motorbikes And ive been quite lucky with the speedometers on my scoots as they are quite accurate Take care and ride safely dear friend Yours Hank

You could always install an extension on the windshield, that will push the air higher up, like on the newer Burgman Executives.

Hank, Have you got any tips for fitting a windshield if one doesn't come stock? yes. for safety reasons don't go down to your local hardware store, snatch up some plexiglass and make one. if you DO decide on the DIY route then make sure the material you use is DOT approved.

Most are off some way off even Honda motorcycles are off . My Echarm is 1 MPH off from radar . The scoots with 10 inch wheels are the most off as I laugh when I hear a 4T 50 doing 50 or 60 MPH

The Suzuki is about 6% off. Every bike I have owned has been off. Good chance your buddy's is wrong too
If you can't find a better windshield consider a more aerodynamic helmet. I use a AGV Blade and notice a big difference over the cheap helmet I had before and even a noticeable difference over the HJC. With the Blade I never feel like a bobble head

Would love to see some one try and ride with a floppy plastic sheet bashing them in the face! I might just leave it. I assume after a while I'll have the neck muscles of a work horse.

Sounds like you are wearing a half helmet with a bill type sun visor on it. The wind will get underneath those and push them up. A full face modular helmet would be the minimum for riding a bike capable of 60 mph and the wind won't push it up. You may find that once you get the right helmet that changing the windshield will not be required. Technically you should be looking over the windshield and not through it. If you have to look through it then it is considered too high.

I have a linhai 300 and one of the first things I did was to install a taller windscreen. It made riding a joy. Check with Sunright for a taller windscreen. 678-546-9997 jim@sunright.net Check here too. viper 541-656 5792 They both sell Linhai.

the average car is off by around 3mph......if your speedo is off by only 5 i would say that is great...i know my jamaica was off by 9 and my grand vista is off by 4.........but that keeps you from speeding lol
